Interesting thoughts from GT bosses on the stint length and pit stop rules.

IMO Toyota have all the "rights" to have an advantage over privateers. They spend a lot cash and run a complex car, if all other manufacturers left it's not their fault. But that is a discussion for another topic. "Back on topic", It's impossible not to fall in love for Le Mans, isn't it, Button? https://www.instagram.com/p/BkP6AjpF...=16uv6lag7gtc2 |

Indeed. He is a real racer after all. Just as Alonso is a real racer. Would ultimately he nice to get back to drivers rather than factories like in the group c years but it won't happen. Not important if the event keeps giving of course.

Thanks for the inside track from Bart, Aysedasi. I honestly do find his response surprising, but don't dispute what you are saying.
What I do know, from speaking to Lotterer at Spa and reading what Jani said over the weekend, is that the P1 non-hybrid drivers were definitely not "sanguine" about the EoT! Regards the race itself, I feel sure it will be remembered for a long time to come, but for the Toyota/Alonso win, rather than because it was especially enthralling, in my opinion. Cant wait for next year already! Hoping to be there in person for the first time since 2007, along with 14yr old Son - a newly converted endurance racing fan |

I just read on DSC that the #3 Rebellion toasted its gearbox on the last lap but still managed to finish third.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but apparently (from DSC's media snippets article) attendance was down just 1% on last year. Certainly felt MUCH quieter this year around the main enclosure from MB to TR, although Arnage was absolutely heaving each time we visited, and the bank at Mulsanne was never anything but busy.
Sad to see there was a bit of a bust up between the Toyota and Porsche mechanics on Sunday evening after the race, Toyota seemingly getting the brunt of the blame. Not good... |

Definitely quieter this year around the main part of the circuit, although as James says, packed out at Arnage and Mulsanne (and Tertre Rouge as usual during the evening of the race).
Bizarre the fisticuffs incident. I wonder what it was all about? |

If you have 12 hours to fill here is the first half of the race from the #1 Rebellion.

Don't misinterpret this as meaning Bart was happy with the EOT, because that's not what he said, nor was it implied. It was more an acceptance that the EOT was where it was. The conversation was far more general, not EOT specific at all, more about where the team were, in terms of their preparation for the week ahead, and that although they didn't think they could challenge Toyota, there was clearly an air of cautious optimism that they could have a good race themselves.

Exactly so. I used the word 'sanguine', but I might have said 'realistically sanguine'...... He knew that Rebellion needed another Toyota meltdown to be in with a chance of victory. It wasn't a difficult conclusion to reach as we all knew that as well.

Finally managed to get a few photos sorted from the race. Didn't really find myself motivated to get the camera out this year. Will have to try harder next time in a few different spots.

Full set of galleries now loaded to Flickr; hope you enjoy them. As an aside, having watched some of the LM Classic streaming yesterday, keen to get back to that event with the camera. |

I know it wasn't a classic, but the race has been posted in its entirety on YouTube on the 24 Heures du Mans channel, something to have on in the background in the evening for an hour or so until Silverstone

Anyone who likes stats, figures and in-depth analysis - a very talented TenTenths user (who isn't me) did a very good dive into the numbers of LMP1

As you have said, a great read and technical insight. Going by the numbers its a real shame the SMP's (or at least #17) didnt remain in the race. It could have been a great spectacle between them and rebellion. Here's to hoping Silverstone makes up for it! |
