How short our time perspective is. "Bridge" and "Priory" have only existed for a brief period of time and it is as if they were an integral part of Silverstone.

If you want to get nostalgic, think about a real corner or Woodcote as it was.

(I'm sure the same could be said about Eau Rouge at Spa.)

Bring back the Woodcote chicane, that's what I say!

Glad to have had the pleasure of marshalling at both Bridge and Priory (with a few hairy moments), but things move on.

This is a tough call as nostalgic is different to people with different ages. I, for example, can only just remember the Woodcote chicane while you obviously lived long enough already to remember the untouched Woodcote corner. This isn`t meant to be disrespectful at all and I could continue with a couple other examples. Well, I think that you only can be nostalgic on what you have witnessed yourself. If it goes beyond your age, merely beyond own age 2 or 3, it is not nostalgic view or nostalgic reflection but a personal wish.

How I wish I would have witnessed old Monza with the bankings or Nürburgrings Südschleife. But man, in the nostalgic sense, what a cracker of circuit Imola was when it still featured the Tamburello corner

I am a regular spectator at Silverstone.

The history of a place is very important to me, however the history can be celebrated and the future embraced.

Personally I support the opening up of the bridge area, things move on and nostalgia just ain't what it used to be.

Too true.

But I'm not knocking Bridge/Priory and I regret their loss in a small way. I try to enjoy what is there and to identify the big positive changes. But I also am fortunate to remember and enjoy a bit of what was there before.

I went round as a passenger in a Radical going full pelt, and the right turn just after the bridge flat out was amazing, for me the best corner on the GP circuit. I will mourn that piece of track!

I wonder if it's so the new pits can be used with the Bridge circuit.

They're creating a more permanent viewing point right up next to the track at Priory and Brooklands I think. I read something on the Facebook page about a Brooklands viewing area.

Edit: found the post

Yes I had heard from another source about the possibility of the track coming up so I messaged them. (They seem pretty good with responses).
Quite pleased with the reply they gave me

Maybe the earthworks that are going on are access routes for these new areas?

The track at Bridge is still there today, even if it's only use seems to be for access to earth moving trucks.

The Abbey grandstand has gone, the banking from there through Farm to Bridge and all the bucket seats have gone and that whole section is being or has already been flatten and "landscaped". The gravel traps at Bridge and Priory are now under several feet of mud and they have extended armco most of the way to the inside of Brooklands.

I can't see the Bridge circuit being used again

If Bridge is used again, I think the curbing, on the inside, is a bit too high and I think the new flag post needs to be moved back!

Silverstone are constructing a new spectator area at the end of the Wellington (National) Straight and around Brooklands/Luffield - opposite the assembly area and BRDC grandstand. That will be over what used to be the old GP track. Even if the tarmac at Bridge corner survives it won't be used again since the track won't lead anywhere.

I am really confused by the second picture. Where was it taken from and where is that grandstand located? It doesn't look like any part of Priory...
