They'd need additional cars and a European base to do run ILMC, at least as long as they also plan on running ALMS. Not saying that they couldn't do it, but it would be expensive. And really, where's the point? Ferrari has AF Corse for that.

Like AF running the Krohn car like they did with the 'Advanced Engineering' car in FIA GT? Surprised it looks like a 430-why wouldnt they upgrade to the latest and greatest?

Krohn Racing will field an F430 in the ILMC, from multiple sources, including a hearsay report attributed to J.H.

No Risi involvement in this program.

Since Risi's not involved, and Krohn is not involved in the aLMS in any substantial way - never has been - there's no need for "hardware" on both sides of the Atlantic.

As you are aware, Krohn Racing has run a full Grand Am schedule for a number of years, partnered with Lola in ProtoAuto, and employs (full or part time) solid professional drivers (Nic Jonsson, Ricardo Zonta, Colin Braun), so are perfectly capable of running an ILMC GT program with the support of either Risi or AF Corse.

Murphy tells me the team has been soliciting technical input from successful F430 racers.

You make a good point in questioning "what's the point?" ACO ILMC rules have not required a single team to run the series in GT, rather provided for a GT manufacturer's championship only. That's why we saw different teams for Porsche and BMW at Silverstone, Petit and in China. However, in 2011 there's a requirement to "run all the races," and as yet I am not sure what that means in regard to GT entrants....can more than one represent a manufacturer and be counted as a single "complete entry," as was the (effectively) case in 2010?

Regardless of all that, as far as a wealthy gentleman is concerned there really doesn't have to be a point, other than traveling the world and driving in races, does there?

Touche'

Yes, I knew what the word was meant to be, but seriously, I still don't know exactly what you meant...is Krohn's contesting of the ILMC (if it happens) heresy?

Ok. What confused me is that Krohn has ALWAYS run a Ferrari (AFAIK) in Le Mans rules racing. So to do so now would hardly be heresy.

Ah, if the Badger is the "Porsche guy" in this famous, long-running thread, then it all make sense. It's "heresy" to the Badger! (Honestly, with occasional reading, I can't keep you guys straight.)

My friend Murphy is going to Daytona in January to hang out with a Ferrari (team).

It is a ILMC campaign, they haven't entered Estoril or Paul Ricard, but they have entered Petit, China, Sebring and the European ILMC rounds.

Entering all LMS or ALMS rounds is not mandatory for ILMC participation. And all ILMC rounds are entered: Sebring, Spa, LM, Imola, Silverstone, Petit and the Chinese round... although the same team is entered for Sebring with a different car.

in my own memories,Krohn is something like BMS-Spa,Hankook-Farnbacher,or pervious Tafel and WhiteLignting, they care more about how to be faster or making more maney rather than how to build steadily partnership with a certain maker.Krohn is very close to previous IMSA-Matmut#75,having fast drivers some time with a well-prepared car,but never be competitive enough for a class win.so it's not important what car they are going to run.

anyway, believe it or not,if F458 GTE is fast enough BMS can be back with Ferrari;on the other hand,if 991 RSR is something closer to prefect,H-Farn and Krohn can both find their way back to Porsche camp.

i do think ACO should give any team enter all 2011 ILMC rounds with latest spec, realiable GT car and strong driver line-up an auto LM24 entry.have a look at ProSpeed,ExtremeSpeed or Falken you will find how well "new" teams in LMS/ALMS could be.Also as most maker will have a new GT car and most already have enough entries for makers classification, there wont be lots of new team. But at the same time, team miss any round of ILMC before LM24 should be replaced before the traditional game start.

They are quite the ambitious operation. I love the fact that they are wanting to race in LMP2 like this, but I just hope this operation doesn't turn into another Farnbacher Loles.
