Bourdais cannot run alongside Wilson at DCR. For the last few years, Dale has paid one driver and the other driver has paid him. Wilson is the driver being paid for 2012, and therefore, he will require James Jakes or someone similar to fund the second car.
Paul Tracy does have Honda of Canada backing (along with a few others), but it is not enough for a full season at this time, and he has been adamant he will not run if it isn't a full season. If he will agree to do a part-time schedule, perhaps... ...but he also dissed Dale Coyne in 2009, turning down that ride on the basis it wasn't competitive and ended up having no full-time ride at all while Justin Wilson put in some competitive runs and won a race. Graham Rahal similarly turned DCR down in 2010, thinking he was above them, only to find himself in even worse equipment at SFR as he scraped together a partial season among various teams. To have the arrogance to turn down a paying seat, which is so rare, was baffling to me to come from either driver, neither of whom were in any position to turn rides down. But hey, they already paid for that and moved on. |

The new car looks like a vulture on the verge of starvation albeit team livery will add some colour to its cheeks. It's structurally very questionable according to most engineering and driving accounts and this car has been testing for quite awhile. Juggling ballast in the nose is not a good sign.
I don't think good racing is enough. It's enough for the core-base like us maybe but to reengage the mass-market and chip away at the NASCAR monolith it needs to look aesthetically convincing (muscular & shapely) and it doesn't, IMO. The final judgement of course will be at the first race, hopefully I'll be proved wrong there. |

That's really hard to look at. I thought they were getting a new oval aero package to improve performance, and hopefully aesthetics as a result?
That angle isn't even the worst. That Ganassi mock-up cannot be the final livery. I refuse to believe that Chip would let something that looks that bad out of his shop....

I hope any possible Dragon move with Bourdais doesn't interfere with his LeMans aspirations. Otherwise, its a pleasant surprise that he's back.

Dreyer & Reinbold and perhaps BHA will be using that same livery on their actual race cars, just with their sponsors on the side. HVM will go with something like a green-and-gold paint scheme, but a little different to meet Entergy's needs. Just for the record.

The 'anti-launch' rear wheel covers don't look particually beefy. Not beefy enough to resist 800kg of racecar hitting them anyway.
