EDIT: Okay, fairly sure I'm wrong about the JGTC stuff.
That one looks like the '97 Parabolica Motorsport car from FIA GT and one or two British GT rounds I think.

I remember driving up to Silverstone for the 97 FIA GT race on race day & a couple of miles from the circuit being overtaken by a road registered McLaren F1 long tail - I wonder what happened to it !

He's right.

The LM was built to celebrate the success of Le Mans in 1995.

They're basically a GTR engine unrestricted and barely changed for the road. They are road cars though, never racing cars.

McLaren own the prototype, XP1 LM and they made five more cars. LM1, 4 and 5 are owned by the Sultan of Brunei with two of them being black and silver with coloured swooshes down the sides. LM2 is in Japan and LM3 is owned by Ralph Lauren.

The GTR's you see on the road are exactly that. Race cars that have been modified to comply with current road regulations. I believe their suspension set up is the same as an LM's.

Some of them as mentioned have been repainted to the famous Papaya/Historic Orange and it really annoys me because it fools a lot of people into thinking they're LM's. I believe the current list of converted GTR's is as follows.

#02R - 1995 Gulf car, recently repainted to the 1995 LM24 livery
#03R - 1995/1996 West car, winner of 1995 BPR series
#05R - 1995 BBA car, currently in an imitation of the livery it wore at 1995 LM24
#06R - 1995/1996 Harrods car
#07R - 1995 Jacadi Giroix car, currently Papaya Orange
#08R - 1995 Gulf car, currently Papaya Orange
#10R - 1996 Prototype GTR
#11R - 1996 Frank Muller Giroix car, currently Papaya Orange
#12R - 1996 Gulf car
#13R - 1996 LARK car
#14R - 1996 LARK car, currently Papaya Orange (owned by Adrian Newey)
#16R - 1996 FINA Bigazzi car, currently Papaya Orange

As someone else mentioned, the LARK car is the sister car of the one that won the 1996 JGTC. #14R was used by the drivers that won it but was crashed in either the penultimate race or one before and was replaced by #04R (started as a 1995 Gulf car until it was crashed at the Monza BPR race just before LM95). McLaren own that one. It's still in LARK livery just without the sponsor decals.

Was it green and without a spoiler?

That'll be this:

XP56GT

Prototype of the homologation car McLaren used for the longtail GTR's. They still own it.

Does Don Law have a 'Martini'-liveried 220 as well? I think that might be another ex-Italian car (Gianni Giudici's name comes to mind)
I did wonder. Looked into it and it looks like the ERG car that ran in the Italian series was ran by the same team that ran the Martini car. it should really have normal bodywork like that one but appears to be a sort of hybrid XJ220C lookalike which is what made me think it's not actually that car. The best I can do from a google search for the period car is these two photos of which one is just a diecast.

Don Law do own the Martini car as well.

Yes, the white/blue 'ERG' car was seen in Italian GT, driven by Paolo Cutrera or Vincenzo Bianchi (there were two XJ220s) and yes, again, the Martini car was driven by Gianni Giudici...the Italian cars were prepared to the National rules, sort of Production GT, more restricted than International/BPR "sisters"

The Mega Montw Carlo was unveiled at LM -98, and was supposed to race in GT1 in -99... We all know happened there.
AFAIK it had the same 600bhp AMG V12 as the -97 CLK-GTR.

Such wasted opportunity... almost as sad as the Koenigsegg CCGT a decade later

One of the Elise GT1's is for sale. Looks heavily modified though.

http://www.motorsportmarkt.de/show/r...itter-gt1.html

Wearing the Bitter bodywork. Would love for someone to convert back to standard Elise.

Would love to know if the car was still carrying the Bitter Viper V10 or the Lotus V8.

What is this Liqui-Moly car livery? Did the Bitter race somewhere else after the FIA-GT adventure?

I guess because of LiquiMoly being a longtime sponsor of Franz Engstler team, that seems to have the car now

I really can't remember to be honest, it was some time ago !

I just remember being amazed to see it cruise up behind me & then breeze past, an amazing looking car.

I'd go out on a limb and suggest probably the Viper V10. Looks like it's a full Bitter car.
