Rockmunky's 3D track bits.

Well... I'm fairly bored this afternoon, so i have begun to make bits of racetrack in 3D using CAD software.

So far, i've sortof started on the garage/race control area.
It's still WIP, and i haven't actually added the individual garages yet, but i'm learning still (i got this software about and hour ago!)

More will be added as it gets done.

Sorry for the double, but this bit's pretty much done. I've added the paint for the gird and pit boxes.

Next post will have some grandstands, some pit entry/exit lights, and advertising hoardings.

Very nice buildings ..... working with CAD software allows for a lot more detail that I could manage.

Looks fantastic. Do those grandstands come from Sepang?

Haha, no i just messed around with the polygon shapes, and ended up with that, slightly sepang-esque though i would agree.

The only slight comment I'd add, would be to use more colours/shades if possible to differentiate the different surfaces.

I'm not familiar with the software so you might be limited in what you had.

Yeah, i could do that.
I think once i get used to it all, the overall thing should look better, and more realistic.

However for a first shot, i thought it came out pretty well.

Thanks for the comment, SBF, it hadn't really crossed my mind either.

Yeah I really like the architecture that you were able to acheive, and no matter what attempt it does look very good.

From my own experience a dark grey works well as a track surface, and will "take" white very well for grid markings and such.

Yeah, the only time the white would show as "white" was when i was directly overhead, because of the shading too. Give it time, and well, who knows, i could be Herman Tilke.
