Bathurst 24hr

Approaching the 20th hour and 30th minute of this years Bathurst 24hr, the monaros are absolutely dominating but are we headed for a staged finsh to grant Brock a fairytale 10th bathurst win? Todd Kelly said this morning that Brock will finish the race but will #427 have to move over for 05?

I think Brock can make a charge to the lead on merit, but will there be a big fight back in the run to the line?

Courageous decision by Garry with 7 minutes to go. Could have ended in tears.....

Congrats to the Holdens, as much as it pains me to say it.

Ford needs to find something they can run to compete next year.

Hmmmm.... not sure if it really counts. I think they could have put Thexton in one of those Monaros and given him a Bathurst win if they wanted to.

No matter if you are a Holden fan or totally oppose it's inclusion in the Nations Cup class, you have to take your hat off to the crew and drivers who prepared these cars and drove them spot on throughout the whole event in very testing conditions, and had them running well enough after what is more than three normal Bathurst 1000 distances to still be dicing flat out for the race win.

Don't sell short the effort involved and deny the crew and drivers of the fantastic effort they put in.

Min you, Dazz, it's easy enough to have top preparation behind you when it's being done by one of the country's top V8SC teams, not put together from bits & pieces of finance and goodwill from wherever you can get it as some teams were.

But what do we want the Bathurst 24-Hour race to be, a world class professional event that will hopefully attract more and more professional teams, or a club level meeting for rich old company directors to tool about in the BMW's, Ferrari's and Porsche's?

I would rather watch a "club level meeting for rich old company directors to tool about in the BMW's, Ferrari's and Porsche's" than a race with only Holdens and Fords in it!

Why can't it have both? Especially with the new pit complex for next year (i saw the plans over the weekend, look very good) with 80 spaces for next year 24 Hour (presumebly, 40 two-car garages), there is room for everyone, in what really is the modern day Bathurst enduro.

Why doesn't it count as his tenth, it's his tenth endurance race victory at Bathurst. 1 Bathurst 500 + 8 Bathurst 1000s + 1 Bathurst 24 Hour = TEN.

If you mean TC as in Touring Car, then none bfore 1973 would count as they were for 'Series Production' cars

If you mean TC as in Tony Cochrane, then none before 1997 would count.

All anyone has ever claimed is that this is Brock's 10th endurance race win at the mountain. Is that statement in any way untrue?

what I like is that the Monaro's were racing at the end of 24hrs (both cars set there fastest laps of the race in the 3rd last lap), not told to stage the finish like that other 'famous' 1-2. CB don't you pass the boss even through his car is stuffed, have a form finish and stay behind me and I'll look after you, oh I forgot to say you have to take me to court to get anything

I meant Tony Cochrane. And being a Brock fan the statement is not untrue but I don't think it will show up in next years 1000 program as number 10.I think it will still only show 9.
