BA breaks record.

After yesterdays win the BA Falcon has notched up a record 27 wins, making it the most successful touring car in Australian history

FPV GTHO should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
And we've still got another year (at least) of competition out of the BA's.

BF2 is no different to BF for the XR8, and for the V8 Supercar is no different to the BA.

No. The bumper has to be changed for the aero kit and the new bits for BF2 dont affect the XR8.

I still believe the reign of the VT was more impressive.

Being the geek I am ive compiled a list of round winners since 1993 when the V8s started... This is a list of races starting from the 98' Calder round when Greg Murphy gave the VT its debut for HRT, and ending before the VX was sworn in at the Start of the 01' season. Note that Paul Morris gave the VT another win in the 2001 season fittingly at what was Calders final meeting as a V8SC circuit.

Convenient for them to be still racing the "BA", even though the "BF" has been onsale for plenty long enough...

If they want to play that game, why don't we add together the victories by the VT and VX...

Might as well add the VY and VZ too... still the same car underneath... they can change the appearance easily enough (like hrt did at the gold coast in 04 to skaife's car)

What game is that?
If it was entered as a VT then its counted as a VT win, if its entered as a VX the obviously its a VX win. Same applies to the BA, can't change history.

As for the VT era being impressive, on the surgace yes it was but anyone who witnessed that era would have known full well that the AU was nobbled and this led directly to project blueprint.

The BA is clearly up against far stiffer competition than the VT ever was, which logically means the BA reign is more impressive. This also includes being more impressive than the Sierra days, which (like the VT) was like taking candy from a baby

Its amazing that 8 seasons on, theres still a few competitive AUs kicking round in the Fujitsu series! Not a VT or VX in sight though...

Although some of the "VZ" chassis started out as VTs as far back as 1999...

The AU was always a good car for a couple of laps. It was just that to get them to go fast they chewed the tyres, and to get them to last they went slow.

The shorter races of the Fujitsu series suit the AU more than the Supercar rounds ever did.

A few things going for the AU in the Fujitsu series -

In 2003, the AU was finally given a parity adjustment via a lip extension to its front bar - to late for the main game of course.

The main game Ford teams ran the AU's so had a big advantage over the privateer Holden runners.

VT/X's could be converted to VY's, so no decent Holden tin made it to the development series.

Gaz is also right about the AU being good over shorter races. The AU's main problem was lack of front grip, iirc it had something like 16kg's of aero downforce vs something like triple that in the VT/X. Mechanical grip could compensate for it (more positive front camber) but at the expense of tyre wear/failure over longer races.

Yeah but apparently the BA is, from a parity standpoint, not even with the VZ!? I think this makes it pretty clear.
