Gold Coast Cart race
First driver arrives in Australia
From Gold Coast Bulletin MEXICAN driver Mario Dominguez returned to the scene of his greatest triumph yesterday and vowed to give this year's Lexmark Indy 300 a shake. Dominguez flew into Australia this week for a whirlwind round of engagements which included 'hanging out' with the Sydney Roosters football team and catching up with Queensland Reds player of the year, Julian Huxley, for a few tips on the finer points of rugby. Yesterday, the memories came flooding back to that rainswept day almost a year ago when he stole the Lexmark Indy crown, inwhat was the biggest upset in the race's 12 year history. The 2002 race was marred by a spectacular crash in the main straight, forcing a number of key teams out. Dominguez, 27, who picked up Rookie of the Year after the Gold Coast win, was able to weave his way through the leading pack and snatch victory over the final few laps. "I loved coming to race here for the first time because I had heard so much about this race from the other drivers," he said. "It is their favourite race and now it is my favourite race. The people and the atmosphere around the track is fantastic." Dominguez is currently ninth in the driver standings and he believes he goes into the Gold Coast race from October 23-26 with a 'very good chance'. |

If this guy's driving is for real over the last while, he might well repeat completely on merit. Go Mario!!(Just make sure you keep it clean!!)

Ive certainly enjoyed watching him this year , he has improved immensely even though at Denver he may have been a bit over the top , you cant deny his will and aggression.

There is/was a school of thought that the CART cars werent coming out this year.... here's hoping this PR exercise is a sign that school should be closed and burned!

He must have remembered what the girl were like last year and has come early to see close up the owners of those white pointy thing that hang over the balconys during the weekend. It usually happens later in the day when the substance they have been consuming takes effect.

I'll be rooting for him in Australia this year. That would be great to see, the reaction to last year's win must still bother him. And I like the guy, he seems genuine.
