Did it without anybody to run with either. Good Job!
DEI really has the restrictor plate races covered. Nice to see Waltrip make it out Ok as well. Had me a little worried there for a while. |

I was hoping for Tony to win but Dale, jr ran a good race and had too much for any of the teams. Congrats to Dale.

Buy that man a Bud...or 2...or 3....or, etc..
I bet there'll be some rockin', kick-a** party at "Club E" sometime this week (it may be even more crazy if Jr. wins the Busch Race tomorrow! ) |

good win for Little E- but the whole race seemd like any other big track race- it was missing a little something this year I felt...too much aero dependence -here too?

Junior really had everyone's measure today and deserved the win. Good luck to him.
It wasn't much of a race though as far as I was concerned. After the halfway point I think NBC forgot that there was anyone other than Stewart and Earnhardt in the race. |

A decent race but not as exciting as in years past, probably due to so many good cars being taken out in wrecks or retiring due engine failures.

A great week (plus extra bonus day! ) For JR....
Now, on to Rockingham, and better weather next week please....the rain contributed to me not seeing the BUSCH race live (Yeah yeah, I'll get over it eventually) and probably Mikeys flip too..... Lets hope for a quieter weekend next week eh? |

Nice work Jr. But is nobody just a tad suspicious of DEI's incredible restrictor plate sucsess. They've won 10 of the last 13 restricted races and 3 of the last 4 500s with junior taking 8 races at Daytona including 1 500' 2 Pepsi 400s, 2 twin 125s and 3 Busch series victories. A little skullduggery perhaps or maybe Jr does have the old man in the passenger seat. I'm not one for conspiracy theorys as a rule but hmmmmm. Any thoughts guys?.

I don't think that there is anything shady going on. Dominance doesn't equal cheating. Jr. is a great restrictor plate driver, and Mikey has always ran well at Daytona. If the DEI cars were cheating, don't you think the #1 team would want in on it? I think their cars and engines have a definite edge over the teams. They have never been caught with anything more than a few minor infractions that everyone else gets caught with. What would NASCAR have to gain to let DEI get away with anything? Jr. is popular, but wouldn't a surprise win by Mark Martin or Rusty Wallace be popular too? I think the DEI guys are just better at the plate tracks. It's what Dale Sr. wanted and it's what happened. And I think that Sr. is watching over his team somewhere.

I'm guessing that the #1 team had the right equipment, but just couldn't get it all together as a team. Park was good early, but had lost it (IMHO) by the time that the DEI plate program came on strong.

DEI is great on plate tracks just like Newman is great at qualifying. Each has something going for them and I would put my money on it being all above board.

Yep,DEI,thanks in part to Their RAD program, has the 4 plate point events figured out, what I can't figure out is why any major owner/sponsor would want to invest so heavily to do well at only 4 RP events a year. The cookie-cutter tracks now make up over 70% of the different track types that the Cup Series visits currently, wouldn't it make more sense to concentrate solely on the cookie-cutter tracks, then the points Championship race would take care of itself, especially when considering there is only 1 short track event and 0 road courses over the final 10 races of the season, the track types included over the final 10 races need to be re-addressed in light of the new "Race for the Championship" over final 10 races IMHO.I'd like to see at least 1 road course and at least 1 more short track event in that segment,as both RC's and short tracks can really jumble up a points chase fast,IMO it should be that way,as a Champion's skill should be tested over all major track types.
