A little late, but there were questions about how the Audi R15's rear louvers met the letter, let alone the spirit, of the ACO's regs.
Recent photos that have shown up from Silverstone and Road Atlatan seem to have the top couple of louvers are pointed downwards (a la, the 2010 Lola areo updates), but the rest are pointed upwards: http://www.fourtitude.com/gallery/ga...&dispsize=1024 Much more noticeable in this photo: http://www.oneighturbo.com/wp-conten...ing-092610.jpg Anyone think that the ACO will crack down on this (as well as the Peugeot, Oreca, HPD and Pescarolo) intrpetations for 2011? |

FYI. The broken differential was traced down to a "defective supply part". See source: http://www.planetlemans.com/2010/09/...ck-in-the-usa/

Peugeot engine failure. BMW suspension failure in '99. Audi's differential. And a lot of others. |

Peugeot titanium con rods were a design error, not a faulty supply.

That car is sooo not a WRC-car... too big, too heavy, too big an engine.
Just a hommage to the old days, I supposse. Audi top-brass have repeatedly stated, that "Audis shouldn't be in the dirt" when asked about possible rallye plans. Moreover, Skoda and VW are already arguing about who gets to be the next VAG-brand in WRC... |

Looks like a car from better times past. Wish they'd run cars like this in WRC, but we can dream, and watch hill climb events.

It would be closer to GTE than WRC!

Audi had the original Quatro road car homologation special for rally on display at Petit, it was a sweet looking ride!

Any chance of this elderly thread being brought back on topic (no matter how interesting the OT stuff may be)? Else I close it as having run it's course.

Most of the discussion about 2011 is focussed on the R18 and a possible R8 GT2. There are already threads about both topics: Audi R18 and Audi R8 GT2.

This applies mostly for 2011 and the VLN series, but Audi has just launched for the end of this year a racing version of the TT-RS. It'll be a customer car program based on the same concept as the R8 LMS. The first car will debut in the last two rounds at the Nurburgring later this month:
http://www.quattroholic.com/2010/10/...r-to-make.html I wonder what it's "R" number will be, whether or not it'll be between the R15 and R18, or after? And I wonder if the customer car program has stifled Audi's sportscar program the last couple of years. It seems that little development has been done on the R15 since after Le Mans, though the same can be said of Peugeot, who've even reverted to 2009 spec engines in their cars for the ILMC races. If Audi expect to beat Peugeot in China, they'll have to find about .5 of a second in lap time and do it consistantly. And only development can do that now. |

One more reason to go to the final VLN-round... the only odd thing is that SP4T is pretty much an empty class with rarely more than two or three entrants... but then, I guess, this thing is built for hunting Porsches more than anything else...

Just start a new thread. Might attract a few more visitors if they don't have to wade through a year's worth of posts to get up to date...... But you'll need to differentiate the subject matter from the other threads which gwyllion mentions. |

What could Audi be doing here?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lvpbEh_aaE
This was appearntly very recent, as the car has no car # on it, but carries the ALMS/ILMC decals. It seems to be a test at Hockenheim. Could Audi be using a R15 as a test mule, or since Hockenheim GP is similar to Zhuhai, could Audi be trying to discover something that will help them there? |

But preparation for Zhuhai is likely, as Audi probably seeking revenge over Peugeot's last two victories. |
