"130r"
Well I'd been fairly negative towards changing 130R, but I reckon the changes are pretty good. We are left with a corner that seems to be a lovely high speed challenge...

Now it's a perfect track with more speed.

I don't really like it. It seems.........too wide to be all that challenging.

I don't like it.
I like it the way it was. It was a more exciting corner. The work should have been put tward safty helping the car come to a nice safe stop if someone lost it. Also the last corner should have been left alone. It was slow yes but there was good place to overtake. I hope I'm wrong about that and it's still a good place to overtake coming into it. The trouble with the old corner was that due to the positioning of the bridge and layout there was no way to make the run off safe.

Not sure about that one. It was safe enough for McNish last year.

There is safe and F1 safe.
I mean this in two ways: Fristly F1 cars are quicker and need more run off, secondly F1 can be a bit namby-pamby sometimes. |

Martin Brundle picked up on a good point at 130R during his track walk, on the exit of the corner there's a very sandy patch which is likely to get washed down the track if it rains heavily.

The old 130r would weed out the men from the boys.
You'd get some doing it flat out and some would opt to lift. Now the new 130r you can do flat out. YUP and JV wouldn't lift. Had to throw that in Last edited by speedbump; 11 Oct 2003 at 16:48. |

They wern't 100% flatout I don't think.
I have watched Kimi's Qual1 lap a few times now and I think he does lift slightly. I think it the conditions were warmer and less "slippy" they might have floored it round there. Still a fine corner though! |

I recall last year where SPEED TV paid attention during qualifying and listed to some guys who didn't lift
