H16 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How much longer can the WR go?

Seeing as how they were just marginally faster than the GTS cars last year, and the cars don't seem to have a lot of money or development behind them, I wonder how much longer the popular WR team can go at it?

I can't believe they posted four entries for Le Mans. Isn't the maximum number allowed two?

I guess they will carry on as long as they can scrape together enough Francs (sorry, Euros!) to do so! They know the ACO will inevitably let them have at least one entry, and, as I suggested on another thread, IMO, that ought to be the limit. If they were a British constructor (or a constructor from anywhere else but France), I seriously doubt that they would get an entry each year.

i think it was put in place for the 01 race, thus why only 2 factory audis ... but, want three ocera lmps? maybe its only for factory teams ... factory teams being engine and chasis from the same manufactor ...

*needs to learn how to type better*

There were three Chrysler-Mopar entries, but they were entered under two team names. (Info from Maison Blanche)

14* LMP900 VIPER TEAM ORECA CHRYSLER-MOPAR LMP2001 5998 V8 MICHELIN ARA/KONDO/AMORIM

15* LMP900 VIPER TEAM ORECA CHRYSLER-MOPAR LMP2001 5998 V8 MICHELIN DALMAS/SARRAZIN/MONTAGNY

16 LMP900 TEAM PLAYSTATION CHRYSLER-MOPAR LMP2001

Team playstation was effectively the Oreca team, so where do the rules stand with this??

Perhaps one car got an auto entry for winning something. The other two cars then as the two car team.

Going back to the WM's they must by now get a historical entry, they have been there for as long as I can recall, at least at the start But fastest ever along the straight and a pole position all from an amatuer team is not bad going, they are often close to the mid field pace as well. So yeah, give them an entry or two.

It also give the Radio Le Mans pit lane reporter something to do during the lulls seeing how the gearbox / turbo / spark plug change is going.

With regard to the 2/3 car teams, this is how I understood how Chrysler (Oreca actually) got three entries for the LMP.

Viper Team Oreca had two automatic entries as winners of the GTS class at Le Mans and Petit Le Mans. These entries could be used in a different class (i.e. LMP) provided the engine was supplied by the same manufacturer (or something along those lines at least) and the team entering the car had the same name, hence the LMP being under the Team Viper name. Leaves the way open to enter another car (or 2?) under the Team Playstation name. I think that makes sense.

Cheers
Mike

Maybe we ought to suggest to the ACO that in exchange for taking out all of the chicanes and putting the Esses back to the way it was , they can enter 6 or 7 WR's and they can act as 'mobile' chicanes instead!

Es Nes, I understand what you are saying about the two car setup for a single team, I was actually just confirming your previous statement about the three entries.

It seems strange though that the three cars were actually supported by Oreca (the third just ran a different team name)
