On the F5000 front I just bought a pair of genuine F5000 period heads this weekend which I plan to use in my Historic Camaro (100% legal for the championship), lovely porting and preparation job, the seller who has a Superflow Dyno took them off and fitted a pair of Brodix heads (customer job) and he reckoned it actually lost HP. He was also telling me he has an old F5000 car he wants to sell as he will never get the time to run it.

I have got to email him tomorrow about something else, I will ask him and post back.
I was telling him about my cars and he happened to mention he had one or sale. Not my sort of thing to own although I loved it as a formula and reckon it was the best single seater formula ever but I would never fit in one :-). Can only just get into my IROC race car with the Dukes of Hazzard door arrangement (never did see the idea of no opening doors as it would have added ziltch strength to this tubular space framed car). |

Al, thanks for the info. I'll check here around town to see if anyone can reproduce my decals. If not I'll take you up on your offer.
Your Camero looks like a nice car. Good luck with those heads... and maybe a new F5000 :-) |

Right Mark I phoned the guy and this is the spec. It is a 1968 Lola T140 (not a T142 he told me). It has front end damage but recons it is a tubular chassis and an easy fix. It has no engine or box and he wants money back what he paid for it, £10k. If you are interested I can PM you his contact details.
And the heads are real nice FastLane thanks now I have cleaned them up a bit. |

The T140 was Lola's first F5000 car, only 17 built before they updated the chassis design to make the T142. So the 140 is pretty rare and most went to the USA. It would be interesting to know what the chassis no. is for the one that is now for sale.

Yes he said it was very rare and he imported it directly from the states, it is chassis No. 7. He was saying it is basically similiar under the skin to a Lola T70??

Yes, I believe it was indeed based on the T70 chassis, so all in all, quite an interesting piece of kit. Wonder how many of the T140 chassis survive?

As a dyed in the wool chevy man one of these must be the ultimate chevy race car and if I did not have so many projects on the go (and I could fit in one of course) I may have been interested in the car myself!

A Lola T140 in the UK?! I'd be interested to learn more as I have nothing on 140/7 in my records, just that it was invoiced to Carl Haas on 16 Feb 1968. As it was an early T140, it's most likely to be the Hank Candler, John Gunn or Pete Helferich car.
Could you send me his contact details (allen@oldracingcars.com)? I'm sure I can help him with the history and maybe help him move it on. Allen |

Lola 5000
On the topic of Lola F5000's - does anyone know of a 330 or 332 that might be available for sale? Condition not really that important.

my mechanic had a word with him this afternoon, and it's £10,000 firm I'm afraid, so we've elbowed that idea! Thanks anyway, Al.

Oh well worth a try I have not got a clue what something like that is worth to be honest, put a T70 body on the chassis and probably about half a million :-)
