2000 DTM Volvo C70???

Was Volvo seriously considering a Works effort in the resurrected DTM? Or is Volvo just trying to make themselves look more racy/motorsport friendly by using a model that Zakspeed must have sent to them in order to try and convince Volvo to give their blessing? What would the DTM series have been like? I was told it did race once or twice in Germany? In the Nurburgring 24 hrs?

No Volvo was not considering a works effort, and also the engine Zakspeed used didnt match the rules.

The engine wasn't legit? Really? It seemed Zakspeed put a lot of effort into the car expecting Volvo would eventually let it race? I felt that was one of the most disappointing things Volvo did. With Zakspeed's past racing experience, I don't know why Volvo wouldn't Zakspeed race the car? Volvo would have gotten quite a bit of free marketing and PR?

I wonder whatever happened to the C70 after it's 2 races? Sitting in Zakspeed's shop? What a waste of time and resources.

Well obviously if Volvo have a model of a DTM C70 at their museum plans were there.

Zakspeed did try to convince Volvo to go in to DTM with them by building one car. Volvo refused though and the Zaakspeed C70 went to long distance racing.

I thought it was Ford that finally shot that deal down. Can't remember the reasons

I am presuming everyone here knows that Volvo race a C70 in the SCCA series in the states. THe car looks real cool actually and is seemingly driven by none other than Derek Bell
Is this the same as the Le Mans guy!

There was or is a privately run C70 that does a limited season in the US import drag racing series. Talk about a waste of resources.
