Jason Plato Fan's?
I know a lady who is one of Matt Neal's best freinds.
She has said that Plato will be back next year. Greg. |

He hasn't really set ASCAR alight so perhaps he should try to return. There's no way Vauxhall will want him back in any works capacity though, and MG, Proton and Honda seem to have no intent of changing their works drivers, maybe if Honda or Proton run this year's cars semi-works a la Egg he might get a chance there. Not sure if the Alfa effort will happen, or who they have in mind to drive for them, but most of the names put forward so far have Alfa connections (from Giovanardi to Pyper to Ferrier). His salary may be out of the price range of any independant squad. Doesn't look good does it?

Hi there!
I am just VERY curious about how you've found this out or should I say got the idea that Jason Plato will return? I'm not criticising it at all! Though how much truth lies in the "rumour"? |

He is having too much fun in ASCAR. He'll stay there and try to win the title.

I'd like to know where you get "more than likely" from Alfa Fan. Don't jump the gun yet.

I'd like to see him in an MG alongside Warren Hughes next season.
Hughes has outpaced Anthony Reid much of the time this year, maybe it's time for Reid to retire and Plato to return and give the geordie a good kicking! |

Is this the same Plato who said earlier this year that the BTCC was a waste of good petrol and that he'd rather chew off his own leg that race in it again... or words to that effect

The same Jason Plato that said "A few years ago I raced against the best in the world and I don't get the same pleasure from racing kids.".....like Muller, Thompson, Reid, Leslie, Neal etc etc. What is the bloke on? The guy has just become bitter and twisted. I hope we don't see him back, unless it is to be humiliated by "kids".

I don't want to turn this into an ASCAR topic! But who's going to be funding all these 'big' names ASCAR want's to attract.
There don't seem to be many big name sponsors on the cars and the crowds hardly look enough to pay for the electricity, let alone the drivers - where's the cash going to come from to pay JP and others the sort of money they are used too? |

I think Thommo's comments at the end of 2000 were that he didn't like the sound of the new regs. Not quite the same as Plato saying the whole BTCC was a dead-end.

Oh no! not the big I hate Plato and i love Thommo debate! This could go on forever!
I think it would be nice to have Plato back in the championship, and i also think that a driver speaking their mind is a good thing for all. lets face it, there are so few drivers with any real personality, its good to here something that hasn't been parrotted from the team bosses for a change. Yeah, Plato has criticised the championship and Thompson has as well, but there has been some imaginative interpretation of what was said by driver on this forum. Its good that driver moans about things once in a while, with some of the luck they have, you can't blame them for letting the PR guard down once in a while. Even if its not exactly constructive criticism, its still the driver's right to have a moan about their job once in a while, we all do. |
