Interesting to note that JPM set a faster lap time than Ralf, but not by all that much!

But he had nothing to fight for, Ralf did...

By almost 3 tenths... not bad in a car that had been damaged and a guy that had no chance of getting into the points.

I think DC v Kimi is a big difference and Da Matta v Panis is a surprise (given OP's F1 experience). Sauber were surprisingly very slow and Ralph Firman, while not having a bad race, showed how quick he appears not to be.

DC only did 4 laps though, I think we can let him off that one .

DC's time is very respectable considering 4 laps and an electrical problem.

Clearly the Ferraris have the pace, but Schumi really isn't comfortable with the new format, is he!

He sat at the back of the garage the last 2 grands prix moping around and looking miserable. If you watch him in the press conferences he gets moody with the hacks.

He likes to be in control - taking Rubens' setup for the GP in Oz won't have been easy for him - that's like saying RB is a better driver.

He's made 2 mistakes in 2 GPs - wrecked the floor then ran into Jarno Trulli. He doesn't work well under pressure - see '94 and '97 for details. (n.b. we're not getting into THAT debate, I was merely referencing for illustrational purposes)

I'm not sure this has anything to do with the new rules

I think it does. He's not in total control and he's not winning. He's now making regular mistakes for the first in many years.

What is it to do with then?

Ingrown toenail? Unpaid phone-bills?

Interesting that. Any ideas of when these were taken? i.e. early in the stint, 1st or second stint? later in the race?

So many combinations eh?

The race result as given on the FIA site;
http://www.fia.com/FreePress/F1_Guid...ysia_Class.htm
includes each driver's fastest race lap giving the lap on which the time was set.

Ralf Schumacher set his fastest lap time on lap 24, JPM on lap 26.

Barrichello set his fastest lap on lap 24 (having pitted on lap 22 - see lap chart ) and Michael Schumacher set the race fastest lap on lap 45 (he pitted lap 43).

Interesting that both Renault fastest race laps were faster than both Williams fastest race laps...

Maybe its to do with the **** his brother Ralf is going through with allegations that his baby isnt his/lawsuits and gay slurs. If I was in his position I would not be very happy.

It would be incredibly unprofessional to let that affect him!

I simply wouldn't expect it of a 5-time champion.

Schumi hates the unpredictability of the new rules. Last year he knew what he was doing and when, how good the car was, etc, etc.

Wait until the end of the season when MS has won the title again! He has been on a long run of luck the last few seasons so this spot bad luck is about due.

Normal service will be restored shortly.
