I love all the images, brings back all sorts of memories from Brands and Crystal Palace. But is there anyway we could get these in a seperate area with thumbnail photos ?

I really like the one with the Pan Am 707 and the 3 Cortinas about to be loaded.

That looks like it might be the one! I can only vaguely remember it from my childhood, by which time it was just a shell. The bonnet looks familiar, but the one I knew had much more flared wings - which might have been a development.

Thanks Andrew - look forward to it! As we are into 60s stuff here I thought I would attach a photo of a Tecno racing at Magny-cours in '69 with Patrick Champin driving. Mine is also a 69 model and now in stunning yellow and white! Apparently they were *****es to drive in period - they haven't changed much!!

HELP! Can't reduce file - any suggestions welcomed!

Sorry I may be wrong but I don't think that is the Janglia as requested by Yimkin!
Reason being when I first saw the photo, something from the back of my memory said ' That's the Tasman Anglia'.
If racing fxgt has the original photo it looks like some script above the 'Anglia' badge on the front that says Tasman. Secondly the photo of the engine is a Coventry Climax if that is the lump that went in it.
I remember it but don't recall the colour or who drove it.
The Janglia I remember as a mustard yellow driven by Mick Hill. It had loads of holes drilled in the boot lid to save weight all about 1 inch in dia and I remember seeing it race without rear window glass too!
Anybody remember a Tasman Anglia?

To reduce the size of the file, best to make the maximum length of the longest side of the photo 400 pixels.

Have never seen those peculiar F.Fords before! How wierd.
The silver one seems to be a 'wedge', perhaps a take on the JRRDS Lotus 61's raced at the time.

Is there a clue to be had in that white club badge on the flanks of the silver one. At least, I think it's a club badge. It doesn't seem to be a sponsor logo.

Fred, thanks for those pictures. They are absolutely wonderful. And great to see your little Min. That's the real grass-roots motor racing that just doesn't happen these days, and more's the pity.

Can't really tell from the pic but the silver one appears to have big rockers on the front suspension and inboard springs - if so, pretty cool for the time. Like Rory Byrne's Royale RP24 design had of 1977. The white sticker if not a club badge could be either Valvoline or a Yardley one, which were common at the time. If Valvoline an American design?
When FF launched there were many crude one off specials built in the first few years of the formula, perhaps these are two of those. Perhaps the guys who built them did not understand the rule that it is your front wheels crossing the finishing line that determine the winner, the length of the nose doesn't count!

Yes Fred, there was an FJ - they built two of the same model - a variation of the club car. In fact, we had one and my dad finished 2nd in the 1984 FJ championship in it (front engined). I am fairly certain that the Yimkin car was separate to the firm who did your mini. It was built by Don Sim, (also responsible for the Diva) who we met at Brands last month - an extremely nice guy. 'Our' Yimkin spent some time in the museum at Monza after we sold it, before being raced in the FIA championship. Its now for sale and we want to buy it back! It was a truly great car with viceless handling, and, as our results show, very competitive. I'll post some pics of it someday!
BTW the name 'Yimkin' is arabic, and roughly translates as maybe.

As an aside my uncle had for many years an FJ U2 as shown in your other pic - he was *extremely* successful in that!

Yep! Thats it! I was only about 7 when it was on top of that bus, so it took some remembering. It was the car with the weight saving steering wheel as mentioned earlier.

Gordon & Glynn had the club car in their showroom in 61 and the workshop was next door in a mews garage, I am trying to find the bill I had from them, I came across it some time ago and now can't find it, but as far as I can rember it came to about £45 for taking the engine out replacing the gearbox internals and the work on the head etc
