That would be a superb venue for Champ Cars!!!!

Also, they have supposedly broken ground on a new road circuit someplace northeast of Vancouver.....

The proposed layout looks really nice, but I've read posts (I believe that it was on the Sportscars & GT Forum) about this site that said that the location they picked is really out in the boondocks...

Also, I believe that there is a circuit named Calabogie (or something like that) somewhere north of the Toronto area that is being built....

Maybe ourt Canadian frieds can shed some light on these possible venues...

BTW....Trois Rivieres is a unique street circuit that seems really picturesque (I've never been there)...especially where they race throuhg that arch....but it also seems to be VERY tight...even for ALMS...and the only place they seem to pass is the straight that begins right after the race through the arch itself....

I'm not too sure that I'd want Champ Cars to go there....but I could be persuaded...

Champ Cars could race at Trois Riviers, but I think that the race would be crappy because of the tight circut. I don't think that the passing zones are sutiable for Champ Cars.

Oh Rob, I meant that the Atlantics racing at Trois Rivers seemed a bit dufficult for them because of the tightness of the circut. I didn't mean that they shouldn't race there or anything. I am sure that it is a very popular event and that being there for 30 years, the Atlantics are a staple - like Champ Cars at Road America or Long Beach.

Hey Mags, post some pictures when you get back from Mont Tremblant. It is beautiful, and I don't think that many American road course fans know what it looks like.

Yeah thanks. Dov. It's beautful! Like what a road course would look like if it was in the Sierra Nevada mountains! Or out a Need for Speed game :-)

I did a Jim Russell school there once, back in the olden days. It is a nice track, not near enough run-off though.

Hot news headlines from todays 'Motorsport News' not London but MANCHESTER! A 2 mile circuit is being planned in the city centre but on private land that will not require an Act of Parliament to close.

If that was to happen it would be FANTASTIC! it would raise the profile of motorsport enormously in the UK and just would be an awesome spectacle far in advance of anything witnessed on the UK shores ever! I wasn't a fan of running CART at Brands as the circuit just isn't up to it but this would be sensational! As you can probably tell I'm pretty keen on it!

Get the Champ Cars there with F3, BTCC and some other top class supports and british motorsport would be back, big time!

Lets hope its not all talk and some green enviromentalists or residents don't start moaning!

To be honest, I was hoping for a return to the Birmingham street track....but this one is right out of the blue...I guess I'll read up on the details in tomorrow's Autosport...interesting Idea though, Manchester has been a good venue for sporting events in the past!

I just hope whereever they go, they drag the BTCC along with them...they could do with a street race too!

While the Manchester news is good, as I am looking at the possible venues I am hoping that OWRS goes back to St Pete. It was a great race with a lot of people, and it definitely has potential to grow.

I like St Louis as well because it looks to be a very sports-friendly city. But the street race that could happen here has to be a very good track with a ton of passing zones (sigh!).

------------------------------------------

CONCEPT:

Ok, let me elaborate on the meaning of that list.

The Champ Car Troika have a "blueprint" for next year's schedule - here's how it looks:

1. ST.PETERSBURG
2. BRASÍLIA, Brazil
3. SALTA, Argentina
4. LONG BEACH
5. MONTERREY, Mexico
6. JEREZ or BILBAO, Spain
7. SILVERSTONE or DONNINGTON or MANCHESTER, UK
8. MILWAUKEE*
9. PORTLAND*
10. CLEVELAND*
11. TORONTO, Canada
12. VANCOUVER, Canada*
13. ROAD AMERICA*
14. DENVER*
15. MONTREAL, Canada
16. LAGUNA SECA
17. DURBAN, RSA or DUBAI, UAE or DOHA, Qatar
18. SEOUL, S.Korea
19. SURFERS PARADISE, Australia
20. MEXICO CITY, Mexico
21. LAS VEGAS

The final schedule will consist of 18-20 races - of the 6 venues with an asterisk 2 or 3 will be dropped ?!... there is also a strong possibility of either Houston or St.Louis being added, and should the Bejing track be completed in time it will definitely be added... in the meantime all we can do is wait and see where will the OWRS' pertractations take us ?!
