Doesn’t surprise me about Dale Sr. As much as NASCAR was his life, he wasn’t afraid of trying other things. Him and Jr would have made a great team. Sadly fate intervened, but it would be interesting to see what he would have done after. As I said, not afraid of trying other things

Shame neither Sr or Jr was able to give it a go

Dale Earnhardt had a stated interest in going to LeMans. He and Jr. did the Daytona 24 and came 4th in 2001 with Corvette Racing. If he had not been lost a couple of weeks later, LeMans may have likely an agenda item. I believe he had an interest in Sebring as well.

If Jr. hadn't had the fiery warm-up crash at Sonoma, he may have gone to LM at some point with Corvette to represrnt and honor his father.

Yeah, a real shame at both. I remember watching the 2001 Rolex 24 and they interviewed Dale Sr at some point either after or during the race and to paraphrase, Sr said "Going down the backstretch at night in the rain is the most fun I've had in a racecar." The man hand a couple of decades of racing left him....

And for Junior, I think that wreck was one reason but the concussions later in his career ended all interest in competitive racing for him.
