flyingduck should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Bad year for New Zealand Motorsport

It has been a terible year for New Zealnd Motorsport with so many deaths in accidents. This year we have lost at least four competitors after having so many good years. Is australian motorsport having the same problems.

The loss of anyone in motorsport is not just your loss.

flyingduck - what has happened (no - not being goulish, just haven't read anything about accidents over there).

You had some problems a few years ago at Christchurch (was it? One of the south island circuits) that caused all the fuss with officials being potentially held liable for a driver caused accident...

Aware of Possum - although technically he isn't considered to have died due to a race meeting - his was deemed a 'road accident'.

But that still leaves 3 others and I don;t recall reading anything about them.

Technically, yes. Still on the "job" though.

Ashley Stitchbury is another, but his was'nt a racing accident either. I don't think Flyingduck is refering to actual racing deaths, but NZers associated with mtr-sport.

There was a guy who died at a speedway crash about 2 months ago here in Auckland. And also another guy who was NZ Champ (I think) at long track speedway, down south. I don't know or follow speedway much. If it was Ivan Mauger we'd all know about it.

I meant actually death's in races and events I know that possum was before but with out the event he wouldn't have been there. The others have been Barry Bern at Puke. One in the South Island earlier this year. Also there is Greg Kirkham is I believe is still clinging on to life support So since 2003 began not a good time for New Zealand sport.
