Congratulations to rika on a first win in the Predictions Contest, with an eight-point victory margin in the first of the six bumper point-scoring sprint rounds.


What happened in Azerbaijan

There were 14 entries.

Only Teretonga and TCT put Pérez as the winner.

Alonso was the most commonly predicted driver in his exact placing (3 people).

Despite several points finishes this season, only steve_r predicted Tsunoda as a top 10 Grand Prix finisher - the most missed points scorer this Grand Prix.

steve_r and Born Racer Fan had the highest total of top 10 finishers (9). Teretonga had the lowest (6).

3 put Hülkenberg after his points finish last time out, but Gasly was the most predicted points finisher who didn't score in the Grand Prix (6 people).

There were top 10 predictions for 8 drivers who didn't score in the Grand Prix in total - the others were Ocon, Bottas, Albon, Zhou, Piastri and Magnussen.

With the 14 entries and 140 top 10s, there were 16 drivers out of 140 predicted in their exact placings (8.75%).

For the Sprint, this percentage was slightly better (just over 10%) for predicting the top 8, with 11/112 placings predicted correctly.

8/14 predicted all the top 8 drivers for the Sprint (in any order).

Only crmalcolm put Pérez to win.

Ocon was the most commonly-predicted non-points scorer, with 4 predictions, while Stroll was the most missed (3).

Stroll was also the driver most correctly predicted in his exact finishing position of 8th (4 entrants).

In qualifying, crmalcolm was the only person to put Verstappen 2nd, and wolfhound and rika and the only ones to put Pérez 3rd. Nobody got any other qualifying placings right.

Mercedes were predicted for Fastest Lap by 3 - crmalcolm, TrapezeArtist and Teretonga.

Red Bull were predicted for Fastest Pit Stop by 10/14.

Everyone put dry conditions.

No-one got Driver of the Day.

5/14 got Alonso for Driver of the Grand Prix. This was the first time there were 2 winners. We could have had Pérez, but no-one picked him.

6/14 got Red Bull for Team of the Grand Prix.

No-one got either of the Rate the Grand Prix scores of 2 or 4, although BTCC frog put 3.

crmalcolm was the only person to choose 18-19 finishers, while only BTCC frog predicted a mode of pit stops of 1.
