Allen,
I believe I went to every F5000 meeting ever held at Snett with my father or with Nick Wattiez' team when I was 'gofering'. Trouble is, I am missing so many programmes, still have a few hundred, but somehow either lost some or we didn't get one on the day! The only one I have of your list is 1st Aug 76. |

Interesting to see those results. In particular the winning F2 car.

Trying to remember, but as ever with F5000/Group 8, it may have been something to do with the reliability of those cars that enabled the Mallock driven F2 car to win. Ray was mighty quick in those days however! I don't think it was wet, looking at the FL.

Hi Peter
Thanks for doing this. I was picking up on Andy's admission of slight rust from his days at Snetterton. Allen |

That now leaves just eight UK F5000 programs to find: Castle Combe (May 1971), Oulton Park (Sep 1970), Silverstone (Aug 1973), Snetterton (Aug 1971, Mar 1976, Mar 1977 and Oct 1977) and Thruxton (May 1976). It's amazing that I only started this search nine months ago and have never really publicised it. And we're now so close to completing it. Allen |

According to my library catalogue I've got two more, but I'll have to dig them out. The boxes are quite far down the pile!
As soon as I can, Castle Combe May 15 '71 and Thruxton May 31 '76 will be scanned and PM'd. |

I'll still send the scan, but you might be able to make use of the Castle Combe entry list as abbreviated into my own records.

That's very useful Tim. When you find the programs, would you mind sending a scan of the front cover as well. They will prove useful when I make all this material directly available (as well as incorporating it into the results database).
Thanks Allen |

Allen did you get Mondello 1972 and 1974 from me ? I passed them to Chris Townsend a while back. In case you didn't, PM me your e-mail address and I can send you the scans.

No, those are still both on my 'missing' list. Chris may have used them when he compiled the results originally but not realised that I didn't have them. My email is allen@oldracingcars.com.
Many thanks Allen |

In light of Davy's offer, let me widen the search a little. There are also 23 overseas programs outstanding: Anderstorp (1970), Hockenheim (1969, 1970, 1971), Koksijde (1969), Misano (1973), Mondello Park (1969, 1970, 1971, 1973), Monza (1970, 1971, 1974), Mugello (1974), Nivelles-Baulers (1972), Salzburgring (1970), Zandvoort (1969, 1970, Jul 1973, Sep 1973, 1975) and Zolder (1970, 1975).
Davy - I was wrong about Mondello 1974; Patrick Sumner already sent me that one. But I do need the 1972 one. Allen |

... and if anyone's interested in going beyond programmes, Ulf Norinder's Lola T142 [SL142/37], the one he raced at Mondello Park and elsewhere in 1969, is for sale on eBay at the moment. Its item number 4618495085 and looks absolutely fabulous. Its in Autosport too for GBP58,750.

It is also advertised in the April edition of Classic & Sportscar for £58,750. I wonder what reserve has been placed on it on ebay?

There's only one way to find out John... :-) The car looks in fantastic condition from the pictures doesn't it. There are more here... and some of wild-man Ulf as well. His main claim to fame was as a sportscar driver rather than a single seater protagonist... I guess you can see why from the picture of him next to his Camaro :-)

Slight problem is that there are two cars with this chassis number - one in England and one in NZ. And I'm not convinced that either is the Norinder car as it was so comprehensively wrecked in 1970. Neither car has a complete provenance.

Snetterton Formula 5000
I have just dug out my programmes from the 76 season that include both the March 27th-28th and August 1st F5000 events at Snetterton.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a digital camera or scanner at present, so will list the entry list for the March meeting & ask questions afterwards. NO: DRIVER CAR CC 3 DAMIEN MAGEE MARCH FORD 751 3412 4 BRIAN ROBINSON LOLA FORD 1996 6 BILL GUBELMANN MARCH FORD 732 1996 7 DAVID PURLEY CHEVRON FORD B30 3412 11 LUIGI CEVASCO BRABHAM BT42 2994 13 DAVINA GALICA SURTEES FORD TS16 2996 15 VALENTINO MUSETTI MARCH FORD 752 1996 17 LIVIO PONZONE DYWA 75 CHEVROLET 4920 21 BRIAN McGUIRE WILLIAMS FORD FW04 2998 30 TBA BOXER FORD PR276 1996 31 RIKKY PEIRCE SURTEES FORD TS16B 2998 99 JOHN CANNON MARCH 4992 START TIME 15.00 40 LAPS I was only 9 at the time but still have some vague memories of both meetings. Am I right in saying that David Purley won the March event with Damien Magee second? My Dad filled in the results from the August meeting but didn't bother with the March event. I was interested to note that my programme has Emilio De Villota down as a non starter in the August meeting but Andrew has his car listed as Blue/White. I can also remember Damien Magee having a hefty shunt right in front of me at the exit of Russell on the second or third lap. Not sure if this was the March or August meeting though. I have some photos of the aftermath somewhere, partly obscured by the bank and the scaffold poles that used to line the circuit! Quote:

The March programme has a UOP Shadow picture on the cover. The support races that weekend were: Saturday: Two heats and a final for the Dunlop/Autosport Star of Tomorrow FF1600 series. Entries include James Weaver, Sean Walker, Alex Hawkbridge, Bob Toleman, David Sears and Mike 'Fulmar' Taylor. Sunday: Sytner of Nottingham Club Sports Race 10 laps Renault 5 Elf Challenge Race 10 laps Euro Burgess Southern League Production Sports Car Race 10 laps Allied Polymer FF2000 Race 20 laps Leyland Cars National Mini 1275 Race 10 laps |
