Best way to get to Le Mans from the states?
Obviously a plane will be involved, but I need some more details. Am I better off buying a package with airfare and all that? Or would it be better to just get a flight into Paris and then somehow make my way down?

your second option is probably best if you are feeling adventurous. From Paris Charles de Gaulle airport there are fast trains (TGV) to most of France. There may be a direct TGV to Le Mans, if not just go to the centre of Paris and get the train from there. You can get tickets at the circuit and if you ask the ten tenthers nicely you might even get a tent sharing offer!

You could take the "QM"2, but it is $$$. Departs easterly from N.Y. around the 1st week in June and returns about the the 2nd of July. Thats the Cunard Line and be sure to book mid-ship if possible.

Just had a look at the TGV website. There are 4 direct trains a day from CDG to Le Mans from 1030 to 1830. Journey time is about 1hr 40. Current cheapest price is about $50.

I'd use train, unless there are cheap flights on offer (obviously the flight would need to be a fair distance to be worth it timewise).
I like trains, though, so I might be biassed. |

Well, Im getting my travel expenses paid for my parents as a college graduation present. So Im thinking of heading up to Germany to tour the BMW, Porsche and MB plants. Then heading to the 'ring

I was planning on going next year, but I'm buying a house this year. I don't think I can afford the plane ticket. Why is it quite a bit more money to fly to Paris than London?

If you are going to tour around Europe get a young persons railcard. they are available until you are 26 and gives you access to trains all across Europe for a reasonable cost. They vary in length and the best for you would be the 1 month version. check out www.interrailnet.com one month continuous travel is 399 euros
