Utterly devastating news.
It's been a tough couple of years for Australian motorsport... R.I.P Ashley, you will be sorely missed . |

My thoughts go out to the family and friends of Ashley Cooper.
I also join VDA in giving my thoughts to those trackside officials and others involved in the aftermath. Mos. |

A shame that another promising driver has been taken from us before their time. Mick |

As a motorsport fan we all feel the pain when we hear of the loss of someone during a motorsport event.
Most of us will never have met the unfortunate person who lost their life or know their families but the sense of loss that is conveyed by all on these threads is real. Whether your an F1 legend or a V8 developement driver, a loss of life in motorsport is tragic. From my family to Ashley's, our sincerest condolences. |

Living on the other side of the ditch I cant say that I saw much of your career and that's a shame. It is a tragedy when ever we loose someone from the racing community. My thought go out to his family, friends, fellow competitors and those that helped out on site.
RIP Ashley Cooper |

Terribly sad ...puts a damper on everything. Young man, young family, not fair but motor racing is dangerous.

To Ashley's family - my thoughts and prayers are with you.
So tragic to lose someone simply following their dreams. So many of us love this sport so very much, and it hurts all involved when such tragedy strikes. Like many on here, I did not know Ashley, may he rest in peace. |

Words escape me... such a young man....
Thucydides says it best - The funeral oration, speaking of young Greek soldiers not returning from war - "If then we prefer to meet danger with a light heart but without laborious training, and with a courage which is gained by habit and not enforced by law, are we not greatly the better for it? Since we do not anticipate the pain, although, when the hour comes, we can be as brave as those who never allow themselves to rest; thus our city is equally admirable in peace and in war. For we are lovers of the beautiful in our tastes and our strength lies, in our opinion, not in deliberation and discussion, but that knowledge which is gained by discussion preparatory to action. For we have a peculiar power of thinking before we act, and of acting, too, whereas other men are courageous from ignorance but hesitate upon reflection. And they are surely to be esteemed the bravest spirits who, having the clearest sense both of the pains and pleasures of life, do not on that account shrink from danger...." All of our favourite, or even not favourite drivers, are indeed brave for going into combat with their sheet metal chariots, and we are able to sit at home and discuss their feats on this great forum. We take this argueably lightly at times, as shown this weekend. To the Cooper family, I wish you warmth and strength at this time. To anyone reading who knew him, I pass this wish to you as well. I sincerely hope we all stay safe after this, driving on the roads as well. RIP Ashley. |

Ashley, you were a young and very talented driver. You drove your car like you steered your life, in the direction of success. Second place was never a option which you looked for.
R.I.P: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal". To the Coopers' all of our hearts are with you during this time of angst. May your strength in numbers grow. |
