Charles - just kept on fighting all the way in - pleased for him and for the team after the way the weekend started.

Leclerc edged it for me with that superb last lap move, although Perez was really caught napping. Kudos though to the Mexican for a much better drive than of late and to Ocon as well.

Lots of great racing. Verstappen was typical him - brilliant, also an absolute arse, doing what he did in Austria some years ago in Turn 1, but ultimately getting back to where he needed to get. Leclerc was also typical him - very fast, but just slightly error-prone when on the edge, but the move on Pérez was superb. Pérez was also finally decent again, but not quite DOTGP, because he dropped from 1st to 3rd and in the best car.

Stroll had a good comeback, but was aided by a safety car for the Russell/Verstappen crash.

Ocon gets my vote. 14th to 4th. Good racing with Gasly.

I am again amazed that people give a vote for DotD to Perez for driving through the field. While I agree it does provide something to look at, realistically, anything but a second place in qualifying and race is a failure. He has a car that is so much faster than anything else, and he should not be driving through traffic.

While I'm pouring petrol on a smouldering fire I might as well toss out another controversial opinion. I think the first corner action on the first lap shows why Charles Leclerc will never become a world champion. He is too meek. A truly ruthless driver of the calibre of Schumacher or Senna (say like Hamilton or Verstappen) would have turned in hard. The Championship is over and what's left to do is establish you wont be a doormat in the future. Leclerc didn't. He doesn't have the spirit. I truly think so. He is a phenomenally talent, but not a champion.

Another vote for Leclerc - good battles for the lead and the excellent last lap overtake on Perez. Honourable mentions for Ocon and Stroll (never thought I'd be saying that!).

There were a number of possibilities this time:
Verstappen (he won)
Perez (he wasn't as bad as he has been most of the season)
Ocon (max places gained, though I assume the safety cars feel nicely for him)
Stroll (finished much further up than usual, and beat Alonso)
Albon (for his qualifying position)
Sergeant (ditto)
But I gave it to Leclerc. Not a perfect race but that last lap move sealed it for me.

Gave it to Charles, although it could have gone easily to Perez, Ocon or Piastri (18th to 3rd at one point and fastest lap. Conserved tyres so well he didn't need to come in but was brought in because he has to do a stint on Mediums)

I agree he was probably too meek given Verstappen's over the limit move. He should have turned in on the basis that it was his right. He opted for guaranteed self-preservation and/or possibly to play the long game and get him back later. The flipside of your argument is if he'd turned in and taken himself out, he definitely wouldn't win. However, he could have potentially stayed in and maybe even wiped out his aggressor. All things considered, given the championship is over and it's time to stake his claim, he should have turned in.
