Provisional Qualifying
It was a battle of contrasting driving styles, but when the checkered flag fell in Friday qualifying for Sunday's Honda Indy 300, Bruno Junqueira barely edged Paul Tracy for the provisional pole. After easily breaking the three-year-old track record, Paul Tracy's aggressive style seemingly paid off. However, with four minutes to go, the smoothness of Junqueira netted the Brazilian quick time.

It was a wild field altogether and I'm glad Bruno finally shot up to the top after languishing around 13th most of the session! PT looked good in spite of the bad haircut, and I notice the slanging is still going on between Dixon and Kanaan. Nice to see Dario fall apart. Literally and figuaratively.
Why does Fittipaldi show "No TIme"? He was out there racing wasn't he? |

He went out a couple of times but caught the red flags before he could do a decent time. He then had an engine problem so decided not to bother switching to the spare.

Well done Bruno. I only saw the highlights on the news, but apparently he just got that thing HOOKED UP!!!
da Matta appeared to be just unlucky and could not get a clear lap until right near the end. Can't help but laugh at Dario. Perhaps he's trying to fit in early with the others? |

There were a fair few offs, Dario stuck it in hard, as did Vasser... could be a long weekend for some...

What is the story about those cones? That looked pretty dangerous to me! And PT is beginning to look SCARY. What a "haircut"!

LOL Paul's haircut is a crackup. The other morning at the breakfast, Paul was asked a question and looked at himself on the big screen, "Man, I'm really going bald there..." Needless to say, everyone has been giving him heaps all weekend!
