Camathias 19 1:12.281 3.202 1.255 18 A. Yoong 11 1:12.393 3.314 0.112 The first 8 are incredibly tight. Tracy is in great forum. He looks to be getting on a roll like Da Matta. Not good for the others, great for him. The last two are WAY behind. I can't imagine their times saturday will be that bad. Edit: Junky - "On my last fast lap I came up on Jimmy and had to slow down. I really believe I could have been on pole if I could have gotten a clear lap. We left a lot on the table today. Hopefully we will have another shot at pole tomorrow if it doesn’t rain." Is it just me or does this guy always have to complain about something? It's fine if you want to say you and/or your team screwed up, but it gets tiresome if its always someone else's fault. Pretty poor showing from Dominguez there, to be down among the rookies and nearly a seocnd off Moreno. I'm beginning to get annoyed by the hype for this guy, jsut because of one lucky win and a few good testing times for a well-prepared team with an experienced team-mate. In both races he's got into numerous needless crashes which have scuppered otehr people's runs.
Bruno is indeed the ultimate whinger. He thinks everyone's out to get him, just like Rubens in F1. |

I beleive Dominguez has been reclassified in 9th after the marshalls reviewed a penalty he received and found him innocent.
As for Tracy, his confidence must be sky high right now. Good Job. |

A torrential afternoon practice session in Watkins Glen saw Villeneuve out-qualify everyone. By 11 seconds.Scheckter stated: "I scared myself rigid that day, I thought I had to be quickest. Then I saw Gilles's time and - I still don't really understand how it was possible. Eleven seconds !" |

Jourdain does it! Fairly surprising starting lineup. About a second over PT's provisional time.
What do you guys think should the provisional pole count for a free 2nd place starting position? Clearly things get mixed up a LOT between the first and second qualifying. |

That's what makes Friday's more exciting for race fans. Now the fans will come to the track on Friday for qualifying, because they (race fans) no the drivers will be trying hard to get the provisional pole. On the down side of it, qualifying on Saturday may produce driver(s) with times quicker then the driver who got provisional pole on Friday. I like the qualifying rules we have now. It makes all the teams push themselves right to the limit, starting early Friday morning.
