Campos Meta rebranded - now is Hispania Racing
After the fallout of Adrián Campos of his own F1 project, José Ramón Carabante took all the team and will rename it Hispania Racing F1.
The rebranded team, now with Colin Kolles as team manager, has confirmed the sign of Indian Karun Chandhok at one of the Dallara cars; the other driver is presumed to still be Brazilian Bruno Senna, who made his contract on the Campos Meta days. Test/reserve driver could be likely Argentine José MarÃ*a López, now released from his ties from USF1. His manager Felipe McGough is in negotiations to secure the reserve drive. Further news will be announced next Thursday on Murcia, Spain. |

So BMW Sauber were unable to change their name and drop the BMW, yet Campos can wholesale change their name at the drop of a hat. Doesn't make sense.

If you spell H. R. T. in English, sounds in Spanish similar to "to throw away".

López negotations to be reserve finished in fail, as reported by Cadena 3 website (you could see my elegy about the matter in other thread ). So it seems the reserve could be Vallés, IMO.

Am I right in thinking this team have not tested the car at all yet? With 8 days to go that's a bit worrying, are they expecting to be at Bahrain?
Considering how far (relatively) Lotus and Virgin have come since their first test session, it's a worry that a team is apparently turning up to the first race 'raw'. |

Will the cars be known as Hispania or HRT? Not a fan of these boring acronyms for race teams. Hispania is okay though.
For instance, when Toro Rosso has that name, why use the boring STR? |

And on the subject of Toro Rosso, most sites still refer to the cars as Toro Rossos rather than STRs, same as the Red Bulls as that instead of RBRs. The difference with HRT is the team is officially called HRT F1 Team on the entry list as opposed to Scuderia Toro Rosso. HRT isn't too much of a mouthful, though, but I'd prefer the T to stand for Technology I've also considered the BMW Saubers as just Saubers, with them as constructor and BMW Sauber as the team, although part of me just wants to consider the team Sauber as well |

"HRT" sounds like they are chasing the grey pound, could be a winner.

Nice. Now down to the real stuff: 10 or 20 seconds off the pace?

I think the car looks really nice, but then it has a low nose and and conventional engine cover, neither of which is fashionable now, even if they were when Dallara initiated the project.
Most of all I am pleased to see Bruno Senna finally confirmed and in a photo with the car and I am happy for Macaroon, too. I don't like to think what kind of a struggle they will have in Bahrain, but at least they should be there. |

Not a fan of the nose, I guess Dallara looked at their IndyCar chassis for inspiration eh?
But hey, it looks like they'll make it onto the grid so I'm a happy camper Last edited by rustyfan; 4 Mar 2010 at 19:49. |

Good to see that they'll be on the grid this year after all the questions. Despite USF1's miserable failure, 3 out of 4 ain't bad.
