Well other teams were given a waiver for missing Sebring, but I don't know if all teams are allowed to skip 1 race, or if it was just the 1st race.

The way I read the ACO's release regarding Sebring was teams debuting a new car would be allowed to skip Sebring in order to test and tune their cars.

Looking at the pdf of the entry list from a few posts back, the second Oak Pescarolo (#24) is missing from LMP1- Nicolet and Hein are instead listed in the second LMP2 car (#49) that ran at Le Mans...

The Guess Racing Lola that was a no-show at Spa is back on the list as well- No Wolfgang Kaufmann, and Ebbesvik is joined by Chapman Ducote and Kyle Marcelli from the ALMS.

The waiver was for one race only , and only if you had a new car .

AMR and the Swiss Hybrid used that waiver .

No more waivers for missing races .

AMR paid 30 grand for missing Imola , not sure if that is for both cars , or 30 grand each though .

I think they only had a one-car ILMC entry. So they shouldn't have to pay for both.

Yes- the full season entry list on the ILMC website only lists one Aston

The London Project/Storholm Racing (some charity concerned with Age – Related Macular Degeneration) are planning on running an FLM at Silverstone and Petit.

This isn't the first time we've had teams in ACO racing involved with charities- Embassy's LMP2 carried the name and logos for CLAPA (Cleft Lip & Palate support group-think it's a charity that the team boss supported)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregweb...er/3076385045/

and IIRC the Team Modena GT1 Aston a few years back had links to a charity at one point?

The Storholm Racing name is new to me, but from the E-I article, this seems to be involving AUH Motorsports, who run Radicals in the United Arab Emirates- IIRC there was a suggestion earlier in the year of them having plans to run an FLM in Europe.

I'm guessing that the Humaid Al-Masaood, mentioned on AUH's website, is the same one who's in the #20 Dyson car in the ALMS?

Yeah, that's him. I guess he co-owns the AUH organization? It seems that Aldous Mitchell is involved with the project as well in some way. According to his profile page on the AUH website, his dream is to compete at Le Mans in the GT3 class. Well, good luck to him on that!

How can a charity sponsor a race team ?

Surly the money that people contribute to a chartiy , they dont expect to see the money used for anything but what its supposed to be used for .

I would be ****ed off about that .

Don't charities have a budget for promotions anyway set aside from the donations and contributions? I'd imagine that a part of that would go towards sponsoring racing teams.

Just a hypothetical...

What if, someone behind the charity decided he/she wants to go racing, has a pile of their own money to fund the effort and wants to use the racing team to advertise the charity?

Possibily a budget ..... but how much does it cost to budget for a FLM car with spares , plus drivers and races away ?

Im all for it , but find it hard to fathom is all .

Im remembering the original band aid , and the money that was raised . Most of it went on getting aid to the destination , and not to the people who needed it .

I knew an IT guy working in London for a charity , his boss (charity boss) would only fly to USA with Concorde , at that time ..... is that charity ?

That sounds plausible to me. A big donator pays for the racing in hopes of bringing more attention and money to the charity.

I'd guess it works the other way round- the charity doesn't put any money in itself, and the team's bills are paid by either corporate sponsors or a couple of rich guys associated with the team who support the charity involved.

The charity gets some free publicity out of it, and opportunities to do some fundraising events based around the team and car, maybe they get a percentage of any sponsorship the team raises, while the team and any sponsors get some good PR out of it.

If they debut at Silverstone, I wouldn't be surprised to see charity collectors for 'The London Project' much in evidence there...

I see from Autosport that all P1's must have a 25mm plank to raise the height of the car which is an increase of 5mm in the ride height. This will be applied immediately including for silverstone

This is a result of the FIA investigation into the Pugs accident at Paul Ricard. Pug spokeman says this will have a significant effect on the car.
