Blimey. Silverstone is extremely low! Mondello looks good although no previous years to compare with but it did seem to have a lot of people there.

10,500 for Knockhill. I knew there were less folk here this year than two years ago when I was last there. What was the 1999 figures

A crowd of 14,500 people turned up to enjoy the spectacle of the first night race of this year’s www.theAA.com MSA British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone Circuit, which witnessed an impressive display by the Vauxhall Astra Coupés.
My memory was right!!
Which fiqure is correct?

14,500 watched and 6,000 paid perhaps.

Obviously I don't know the right people!!!

Sadly enough Kelvin I think the 6000 may be right. Afterall, these night races are meant to attract a larger crwod than others because of their spectacle. 6000 is very poor for a national championship.

These figures come from a memo sent to the teams by Richard West last week.

I would tend to beleive 6000 is closer to the mark.

I expect the BTCC to grow next year. These figures aren't too bad afterall, though nothing compared to the ST years.

18,000 for Brands and Thruxton aren't too bad, especially compared to the number of spectators at Powertour meeetings in the past. The figure for Thruxton is quite good compared to 8,500 they had last year.

Althougbh the results are close and racing closer, this year's BTCC still lacks something. Don't know what that is though. Just one of those things.

Interesting there were so many more at Snett than Silverstone...
You'd have thought the home of British motorsport should have been able to pull a better crowd...
To be honest that's pants but the TV figures look pretty good...
