Four weeks from now I'll be nil by mouth in preparation for my appointment with the Upper GI department of a nearby (but not local) hospital...

Enjoy Le Mans this year everyone, because I'll be lucky if I catch any of it if I end up on a ward!

Always happy to raise a glass to absent friends - and I'm sure we can manage to lift one in your general direction. Here's hoping it all goes well for you and if possible you can get a bit of coverage to keep morale high.

Do hope it all goes well, still owe you a drink so it might have to wait until 2016 now. I am sure the hospital will have a TV and hopefully if it is digital you will get motors TV if they have not actually thrown you out for going on about "some stupid motor race it France"

Cheers guys. Right up until last week I was still planning to meet with a friend from another forum who comes up for the race from his annual holiday home in Bordeaux, but this gullet problem has put paid to that.

If I don't get my own room with MotorsTV (or at least Wifi capable of streaming to my phone) I am going to kick up one hell of a stink! Let's see if the 21st Century NHS can accommodate even the most difficult of patients

With all the commentary about potentially a big crowd this year was pleasantly surprised when sorting some of the bookending hotels for our trip (I know - much late than should be done, my head is duly hung) to discover pretty good availability / prices out there for the Wednesday and Sunday nights - to the extent that I'm ferreting around for somewhere fun to break the journey on the way down on Tuesday - any creative suggestions in 2 hours or so range from Calais?

Thanks for that Eric, in two weeks time i will be waiting at the eurotunnel terminal waiting to board the train. Camp site looks good and can't wait to get there and set up

It makes it so real and so close, doesn't it! I don't have my tickets, as James is 'billetmeister' (to take liberties with two languages in one word! ), but I did get my old Tourist pals' tickets and delivered those today. In 11 days time I'll be well on my way across the Channel.... Yippee!
