...Salary Cap for v8 Drivers..post your top $ figure...

..........following on from the other thread post here what YOU think should be the top (highest) dollar figure a driver can earn in one year with everything added in...ie...all endorsements etc.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i think they should do it for free and get a real job like the rest of us. then tickets would be cheaper

Dont think Tony would let the tickets be cheaper.

But really you shouldn't be paying any driver more than 500k per annum in my opinion.

The driver's ability behind the wheel is not the only criteria as to their worth. Their value to the team's sponsors would also be taken into account. Overall i personally don't care what they get as there a lot more people out there getting a hell of a lot more money for various jobs and careers, a fair few of them probably undeserving of their monies received.

Well for tax reasons the drivers should not have to report more then 50k per annum to the tax office

compulsory creative tax evasion would make the series more interesting.

Salary cap is a ludicrous concept in V8Supercar when driver salary is a relatively small part of a teams budget, especially considering that in some cases the teams don't actually pay the drivers salary.

Do the teams really need $150,000 engines driving $400,000 cars that cost in the vicinity of $2,000,000 to run for a year? These are the numbers that need working on.

The Kiwis don't seem to need them and they seem to have racing comparable to V8 Supercars.

None of the NZ V8 drivers get paid as such, and more importantly, the costs for running a two-car team are bordering unsustainable as the series is looking at $450-500,000 to field two cars.

The former premiere categories - The NZ 2-Litre Series and TraNZams - both fell over as costs approached $200,000 per car. There is a sad, yet historical, cycle of truth in it.

Don't think that the NZ V8 Series is necessarily either strong or cost comparative to Supercars in any way, shape, or form.

If you want to control your own destiny in a motorsport series, full time employees, a permanent dedicated facility, and all the tuning devices are the way to play. It happens in all categories eventually.. once you have spent the money on the low hanging fruit, you dont have to spend there again to the same level, so more money is channeled elsewhere

I was interested to read about McLaren F1 team and how they have $675m in debts, largely related to the Paragon gin palace they have built. Makes TWR's meagre $200m hole seem tiny by comparison.........

I think they should be tiered, by Championship results, with a max of AUD$700K

I am not sure it is insane...

If I was the grunt who is repairing the $1m megastar's car for the3rd time on the same weekend... and I am paid <$40k per annum... the disparity would be something that must play on their minds....

The manufacturers have a big hand in this... their poaching and 'roaching is what's causing these mega salaries...

As I said earlier, the most highly paid driver did not win the championship last year. Or the 2 years before that.

Simple, get the boss not pay them that much. Each drivers performance will work as a salary cap.

Regulating how much a driver can and cant earn coming from eg. Avesco is insane.
