Best Test Driver
Who's the best of the current test drivers. We get to see them quite a lot at this time of the year but not many of us actually talk about them. I think the best of the current test drivers is Luca Badoer. He it the perfect tester, he knows most of the testing venues like the back of his hand (Especially Mugello & Fiorano), and his invaluable feedback has enabled Ferrari to give TGF the perfect car, and in turn TGF has provided Ferrari with the last two WDC's and the last three Constructor's titles.

Tough one...I'd say either Badoer or Gene but I didn't vote because I can't decide.

If you'd gone back a bit I would have said Damon Hill, rated as one of the greatest test drivers off all time (remember he was the guy who helped developthe fantastic '91 and '92 Williams'). Of those listed I don't know.

best test driver
mansell, hill, hakkinen were all test drivers at one point.
the best test driver right know is hands down alex wurz. no one even come s close i thnik. he showed alot of talent when he raced for bennetton and does really good work with the car, as he's done lots of different types of racing. he's fit and loves his job, often setting hugely impressive lap times and has stuck with the team to make them win instead of taking a lesser drive elsewhere. oh ya....and he's my favorite driver, largely due to his showing vs. schumi at...... !!!!!!!!!!!! MONACO 98' !!!!!!!!!!!! |

It has to be given to Badoer. The last few ferrari's have been phenomenal and he's the one that always developing the car, even when the others are away on race weekends.

If we're talking best as in technical and development work, the Badoer takes the cake as his work in the Ferrari has obviously contributed to the success of TGF and his merry men.
If we're talking most talented, then Alonso is best, but he probably won't be a test driver for too long. |

By the way, I am inclined not to include Fernando, because he SHOULD be racing...
Also, nandolmo, welcome to 10-Tenths Hope you like it here. |

I'm rooting for Wurz, here. When we see how good the new McLaren is, we'll realise how important he has been, considering Mika was never helpful about testing.
Ferrari should be expected to have such good car development when you've got a team like Badoer, Schumacher and Barrichello...on their own private test track! |

I wish i could say M Schumacher...he does just SOOOO much testing and is just so excellent in feedback and developement of all the drivers around during testings sessions...
But since you asked for official test drivers...i'd have to say Alonso for most prospect, Badoer for most hardworking and Wurz for most height... |
