Allan McNish looking towards IndyCar
Interesting story over at www.autosport.com today;
McNish evaluates IRL alternatives - Ousted Renault F1 driver considers Indy 500 ambition Ousted Renault test driver Allan McNish has admitted that he is looking at racing options outside of the grand prix paddock, including the IRL IndyCar Series, should he not be able to secure a drive to compete in the 2004 F1 World Championship. The Scot, who has spent the year as test and reserve driver for the Renault F1 team, tested a Penske IRL IndyCar last winter and pin-pointed the Indianapolis 500 as one goal he has yet to achieve, in an interview in today's Daily Telegraph Read the full article [here]. Personally I think it would be great to see him in the IndyCar series |

Indeed, in F1, he's only sounded as a proposal for Jordan, to help keep the Benson & Hedges sponsorship.
He'll always have more possibilities of success in IRL. |

You ask any of us in the sportscar forum, and we want him back bad. If McNish does not pick up an OW drive, you can be sure he'll be with a top team in ALMS.

having Mcnish as a free man is crazy- he is a great driver and great at development, watch ganassi signs him to head up his DP team. lol
no really, i would like to see him in a factory GTS team as they are coming on strong....Lamborghini could use a sure fire hot shoe |

Im sure Mcnish is a very wanted man outside of F1 circles. It is such a shame that he never really got his fair crack at Formula 1.

I'm with Chevyguy here. I've heard Reinhold Joest say he'd have him back at the going rate any time.

One wonders if poor Kenny Brack's crash will give Nishie any second thoughts about the IRL.

the IRL cars have proved once again they are tough and up to snuff, I still would argue for the Supermodified/top fuel roll cage thing though
