TEGA Revolt???

TEGA Revolt By Brett Ramsey In Pit Lane Tueday @ 9:30 on Channel 21 (Melbourne)

By Brett Ramsey

A petition has been circulated at Phillip Island calling for an extraordinary general meeting of TEGA (The Touringcar Entrants Group of Australia) and the resignation of several high profile board members.

The petition, which allegedly has the support of around 15 teams, calls on Gary Rogers, Kim Jones, Dick Johnson, and Jeff Grech to resign from the board.

The plan is to replace them with others including Larry Perkins & Paul Morris.

More info on this as well - it appears no one from TEGA can be contacted today (Monday) as everyone called is 'in a major meeting'

One source has apparently stated that a certain TC has threatened to walk away if particular people are placed on the TEGA board (the names being bandied at the time were Larry Perkins and Terry Morris).

Be an interesting week to say the least.

In last weeks Auto Action Larry had threatened to take Avesco and TEGA to court over the Tend of new ECU's. Larry was said to have put his legal team into action and had threatened that the next round of the championship would NOT happen. Could this be the begin of the end for TEGA and Avesco as we now know it.

Will do - there are a number of other issues floating around which are causing this 'revolt' but no on e is currently prepared to say anything we can use in public (typical I guess).

From what I hear there is not much holding it all together at the moment. We will see how much longer Tony Cockran lasts

The effluent is in the air, and nearing the fan...

So HOW are they going to fix the pre-qualifying situation? I suppose I would be getting shirty too if I failed to pre-qualify...

It isn't the fact of not qualifying it's the method of selecting the automatic go-throughs that is really starting to upset teams.

Let's take a scenario.

At Eastern Creek Skaife has a big one during qualifying (no not picking on him - just a high profile name). SO before he gets a lap in, no car.

He gets to start from rear of grid - no hassle there - he moves through and eventually wins races 2 and 3 (hey I like Science Fiction

So for Round 5, because he missed out he has to PQ again.

Take this one step further - he has another massive; the engine dies - whatever.

How long would it take HRT to kick scream and yell blue murder???

The type of racing requires a pit garage per car (and yes - tell that to the Shell Helix Team at Phillip Island). Basically 1 car per garage and most tracks, except Bathurst, have provision for 32 cars.

QR has 40 odd pits, how many do EC, Hidden Valley et al have?

They could have a gazillion pits, but because everyone is in such a hurry to get out of the pits these days, they get annoyed when other teams park their cars to close to their own...

I don't think DJR did anything wrong- they are only allowed to work on one car at a time, they simply did what Ferrari F1 have done in the past. But saying that, how soon will we see a change in the rules to prevent them from having their arse stick out down pit lane?

They don't have to change the rules - it is already covered - but I see no action was taken....

If a team can't work on more than one car at a time then it is about time that teams were limited to one car - simple. Cut out this bull**** of two, three and four car teams.
