In defense of the Aztek (I know, hang with me), the concept car was a neat idea. It had a 12v cooler in the console, a tent that came off the back, rubber floors that could be hosed out, and some other cool options. The 3.4L 60* v6 is a perfectly serviceable motor and the car itself is decent for the era. However, few years later, Honda came out with the Element, which was the exact same idea but executed to a much higher standard. They were extremely popular despite being homely and a good one brings silly money today. The Aztek is a lesson in how corporate accountants can ruin a product if not checked. |

Yeah, no car has exemplified the first design guys have no power by the end more than this one. Excitement was high and then they gave everyone that monstrosity
And yes to the Element bring it's killer, if they still made it today it would sell like crazy especially as a PHEV to hit that market. And probably would have considered it as market car, there are 3 being used that way and they pack well |

Not so much about the car - but the choice of licence plate number.
Spotted in Metz today - not sure if it translates to French the same way it would be viewed in England? |

An old mate bought a Series 1 of this: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studebaker_Avanti Very interesting car and story. Many parts avalaible in NOS at reasonable cost. Fascinating. Not really easy to fix at least here.

Yes interesting car and fascinating brand story. The Avanti I with the in house designed V8 offers good cornering abailities. Strange enough, the french club is one of the best we have and it's president is a real enthousiast, very knowledgeable and not too much anorak. I recently had a chat with this gentleman and could collect a lot of info to help my mate. His car is just out from a well known restaurer so many things, which are not details, have to be redone!

Gone are the days when it was interesting for us to own and maintain an american car. French taxes are now sky high. Fine too! Many specialists and collectors gave up because of this. Hence the interst to look for a good club before choosing the car/bike.

I find the dash arrangement with all dials/gauges turned to the driver's view is pretty much modern. More about the designer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Loewy Famous in the US for numerous railroad designs (Coca Cola distributor and some fridges too!). American born in Paris, he was called "The man who shaped America" and "The father of streamlining" (Father of industrial design too).

Oh no, that's the only view that doesn't make a fella ill. Another of GM's decent prototype model that became an abomination on the road

I'm appreciative that they made it and the people who bought them. At least it's not a Camry or Civic.
