Britcar night-how was it?
Having had to leave at 3pm for the Mighty Mini awards/DD at Hinkley-how did the race go-any results/feedback on the event. Just as I left a blanket of fog came down-I presume this went?

Wet.
Dark. Wet. Cold. Wet. Fog lifted by the end of the Britsport race. I was very surprised the officials didn`t flag that one when the fog had descended. Some very nervy moments when the no.29 Williams radical spun off at the bottom of Paddock. Driver took a while to get out, marshals fell around in the gravel and cars still used all the run-off at Paddock despite yellows - and all in thick fog! Night race was very wet. Numerous caution periods throughout. Difficult to keep track of what was really going on in the race. The Greensall/Christmas BMW a fairly unpredicable winner - at least to me anyway. The Sollis Mini was the star car and should`ve done better had the wipers not packed up - it led at the half-hour. Certainly wouldn`t have missed it for anything but hope its drier next time! |

Bonkers and great respect for the drivers - was my thought giving how wet it was and fast they were going in the dark.
Well done and thanks to the Marshals - shame there were so few spectators, Brands had even fitted lights to the grandstand! Last edited by Stephen H; 23 Nov 2003 at 23:04. |

Full report on Dailysportscar and Pistonheads in a few days.
The Christmas/Greensall BMW won after being there or thereabouts all evening. The Mini's wiper problems were compounded by a sticking throttle. Great recovery drive by Calum Lockie, but didn't make the podium. Great shame for the MG and Marcos, who were both mathematically in with a shout for the overall "title", but were punted out in the first lap melee. Thanks to all marshals, and the few spectators, for sticking with it and making it a success. |

A thoroughly enjoyable finale to the seasons racing at Brands Hatch. The night race was shall we say 'interesting' from a marshalling perspective, but well worth standing in the wet for.
My thanks go to all those who orgainsed such a great weekend, from James Tucker and crew to the BRSCC for having the balls to go with it. Of course there are a few lessons to be learnt, but hey that's life isn't it! If you plan to run it again next year, then I will be there come rain or shine. |

RacingDick helped in the pits with the No4 Tiga of Neil Purdie and Andrew Webb. However he is pretty good with a camera as well.
