Team Rahal to the White House
2004 Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Rice enjoyed a visit to the White House yeterday. No word yet on when the winner of the Portland 250 will be invited to the White House.

I suspect Bush had a lot to say to Buddy:
"Are the highways of racing becoming more few?" "Is acceleration the basics of all racing?" "I know how hard it is to put victories on your car" "Is your priorities winning races?" "Bobby understands race-winning strategies, as he was one" "If you say you're going to run 2 CART entries, and don't do it, that's trustworthiness" "It's clearly a racecar. It's got a lot of wheels on it" |

President Bush has been working hard for the NASCAR "dad vote" for some time now. Now with the Indy 500 winner and the rest of the team at the Whitehouse, (and we can't forget TG!) it would seem that the IndyCar "dad vote" has some clout to. IMO, thats very positive for the series to be recognised like this... |

Look at it on the bright side.... Bill Clinton wasn't in office, and thus couldn't ask: "So...exactly how do you fit an intern's head under the steering wheel...." Personally, I hope "Dubya" takes a ride in the Two-Seater at Texas Motor Speedway someday... Like his Dad, he was a pilot, too.... Last edited by Tim Northcutt; 20 Jul 2004 at 22:09. |

No offense Tim, but "Dubya" was only a pilot when he felt like it. His dad well and truly served the nation...
It is still an honor for Rice and Company to get to go. |

This was meant as a joke, a little dig at Bush's gramatical fumbles and slips. I posted this with the intention of making people laugh - can the same be said, for example, of the Clinton post?

Looks like there are a few thin skins here!
Boots post was quite clearly a joke. I remember seeing a speech by George W Bush where he listed some of his own similar grammar blunders. If he can laugh at himself, there's no reason for anyone here to get het up about it. As a general rule though, political discussions are probably best left to parcferme. |

Thanks KB. I'll tread more carefully in future, and try to leave politics out of it (fortunately PF tends to have high-quality debate with all sides of the argument put across reasonably and with no argument). Bear in mind that I've quoted the many mistakes by ex-F1 commentator Murray Walker several times, and he's something of a hero of mine.
