xlr8r should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sunapee Raceway

This track started just as an experiment to see how to do realistic elevation changes in Google Sketchup. Though I decided to finish it up completely once I got the hand of doing elevations.

The track is just a club type circuit that is only about 1.5 miles long. It is obviously based on both Brands Hatch and Road America. The total elevation change for the circuit (from highest to lowest point) is about 90ft.

Comments and questions are always welcome.

Google Sketchup question...Is that using the Sandbox function?

Of the circuit itself, yes clear influences but that dooesn't detract from it being a nice little circuit in it's own right.

A couple of minor things,

The grid markings are a bit close to T1.

All the gravel traps are a bit short of length (not depth) on the exit of each corner. Where you have marked the exit Kerbs should still have atleast some gravel between them and the barriers.

The 3D has me thinking again

Nicely done. Again, same question as SBF. I've never actually managed to make a bumpy ciruit, and that is awesomely good.

As they say, coming up with a simple circuit is the most difficult.
But you've managed to do just that here.
The track looks like an instant classic.

I did not use the sandbox features. I might have to look into that in the future. I bassically designed the track with straights having elevation changes and the turns being level. It very complex to do trurns on an incline. Then connected everything with lines to create the terrain.

The gravel traps are smaller than I normally would do but it works better this way with the elevations. This really is just a small track designed with sportscars in mind not F1, so the gravel traps don't need to be huge. Also you can see that some corners have extra run off but no gravel traps. This sort of gives the track a more natural look in my opinion.

Like I said earlier this track really is just an experiment. Glad you guys like it.

As a short circuit, I love it! It's just.......actually I don't know, I just love it. Oh sooo simple.

Very nice little track. I've just tried to download SketchUp but it didn't work. Maybe later!
