Comtec Duratec
I found a few images of the new Comtec Duratec during the build. Looks a nice bit of kit. Has a look of the Mygale a little bit?

Comtec bought out Spirit to get the tools and machines needed to design and make a car. I think only the fuel tank is what they kept from the old Spirit.

A red Comtec???
Those sidpods look super, very F1ish. It looks as though the driving position will be very much like an F3 or FPA, ar*e low down and feet higher up, rather than at one level, with air being allowed under the drivers legs and forced into the sidepod. The side bodywork looks very much like that from a Spirit and/or Van Diemen 99-01, especially where the damper cover will sit. A car im sure many will be looking at, I certainly will. Any word on who will have the honour of driving it? |

Youngoldy i think your looking at the wrong car matie, the duratec is the black car not the red one. The black one has 1600cc the red one has prob 3000cc.

In the inevitable words of Homer, doh!
Getting back to the black car anyway, those sidepods are so shallow. The chassis itself looks decent and strong enough, with some interesting tri's. I suppose seeing how the bell housing and rear suspension all line up will be something to look at. I remember looking at last years Kent Spetrum thinking it looked good until I saw the price tag... It will be good to see how it compares against the Juno FF when both get going |

Those sidepods on the black bodywork don't look like they allow for much cooling. Are they just for the oil cooler? That doesn't leave much for the rad?

I am not sure if the juno will be ready for the show as it was just a bare chassis when I saw it just before christmas and with loads of sportscar orders they may be pushed for time. |

Well, the vision they had, was pretty big, and if it all worked out, it would have been like an F1 styled manufacture in F1.
They were to buy a plot of land near Colwyn Bay, build their factory up there, and build their own test track. The drive was free for two drivers, they were making their own chassis and gearbox, racing in the UKFF, buying a huge area of land, and whoever was funding it, possibly couldn't see any profit being made, considering £x,xxx, xxx of pounds being put in. Whereas running cars in the WTCC seems an easier way to make money in motorsport... |

The red car is the new school/corporate wagon. The black car is the FF duratech - which the FF1600/FF2000/F4 will derive from. The duratech is a very pretty, well thought out car which I am sure will fly in 1600 spec with so much attention having been paid to the low drag elements.
Looking forward to the F4 version of the car... |
