GPL drivers here?
Hi I bought GPL 2 months ago and am really enjoying it. It is difficult but progress is being made. Without the setups and utils available on the web I don't think I would stand a chance. My hats off to all those who started playing this game when it first came out without any help from those who have crashed before.
Anyone else out there still drive GPL...online leaguers here? What are my chances with a 28.8 connection? |

I'm still trying to get the hang of GPL. Great game but very hard indeed. Well.....at least I've managed to qualify 11th at Monza with a ferrari.
BTW. Where did you find good set ups for GPL?? I looked everywhere and I only found some relatively good set ups for the ferrari. |

I have had this game for 18 months and played it on and offever since. However, it took me until 3 months ago to record my first win (at silverstone), and I'm still yet to win a race at anywhere other than silverstone, monza or watkins glen. I think this gives a good idea of how hard this game is, as I'm neither the worst or best gamesplayer out there, but would still expect to be aceing a game after 18 months sustained play.
That said, it is my most favourite game of all time. BTW what's everyone else's best lap times? Kyalami 1:24.58 Mexico City 1:52.59 Monaco 1:32.24 Monza 1:29.03 Mosport 1:26.17 Nurburgring 8:59.39 Rouen 2:03.49 Silverstone 1:29.35 Spa-Francorchamps 3:24.67 Watkins Glen 1:06.83 Zandvoort 1:29.20 |

It is a grat game that gets better as you learn the lines and braking areas.
There are some good set ups on Alison Hines site. Try also the backstretch or APEX sites for links. Sadly many sites started off very good but interest waned and they have been not updated. ozywoodwards, you beat me on all bar Monza (1.05.98) and Watkins Glen (1.06.06) My Nurburgring time is over 11 minutes but then again I do concentrate on Monza, Glen and Silverstone. What sort of 3D card support does GPL have? I was playing the demo, and for some odd reason, the graphics looked really poor, no matter what options I changed.

Somewhat bizarrely, I dreamt that I was driving round the old Nurburgring last night... And I've never seen the darn thing!

My best result is a 6th at Kyalami.
This was only achieved by driving the rest of the field off the road and causing a huge first corner pile up!!!!! |

Setups
If you're looking for set-ups, try this one for instance:
http://stop.at/GPLSetups Out of those, I can personally recommend Roland Ehnstrom's. They're all very balanced and great to start with if you have a 'normal' driving style. Greger Huttu's 'old' setups are also supposed to be good but I have not tried them. Otherwise, my experience is that many of the setups give you a car that is extremely difficult to control - but probably quick if you learn the driving style it takes. I can also recommend the GPL track guides at Lights Out Racing: http://www.gmmhost.co.uk/gmmhost/leg...des/index.html Another advice for beginners is to practise a lot at the Nurburgring. If you can master the Ring, you'll be quick everywhere! |

I've been playing it on and off for a few months now with my Forcefeedback wheel. I never really had a lot of trouble racing at the rookie level, but, that said, I;ve never won a race.... well..more motivation...hehe
lol...still working on the ring... back to GPL now... |
