John Reynolds declared that he will be racing this weekend at the first round of the British Superbike championship, following only 15 laps on the Rizla Suzuki at the Mallory Park circuit today.

Reynolds and his Rizla Suzuki team had set-up today's test in order to determine whether he will be fit enough to race after he broke his leg at the teams first test at Valencia in mid-February, little over 30 days ago.

JR only needed 15 laps to decide that he would be able to manage to race this weekend as he defends his hard earned 2004 BSB title. He will use the solid race boot specially designed to keep the broken bones in a fixed position, and the only issue in the test was the location of the rear brake pedal, which will need to be moved to allow easier operation.

Michael Rutter, who is one of Reynolds main rivals and lives across the road to the Mallory Park circuit, was there to gauge the Suzuki riders speed.

When JR returned into the pits, he looked over to Rutter who was standing outside the Rizla garage and asked the HM Honda rider if he was ready for the racing this weekend, in a blatant show of his determination to get back to racing.

Reynolds will line-up with his fellow British Superbike racers on Monday 28th March for the first round of the 2005 championship.

Excellent news! Looks like this year could top last year in terms of both competition and in terms of strength in depth both on the teams and riders front. Lets hope JR is fully on the pace this weekend.

It was a gutsy effort by JR today, the effort it took for him to get into his leathers indicated how tough it will be for him on Monday, let alone two days worth of qualifying on Saturday and Sunday.
It certainly makes you wonder about footballers who are carrying "knocks"..........

Reynolds leg is broken in 5 places and he has had 39 days recovery since the crash!!
Top effort, i hope he is rewarded with some points for his determination.

According to the final entry list for Brands, James Haydon is unfit to ride so Gregorio Lavilla is taking his ride on the #36 Airwaves GSE Ducati.

Hooray for JR, wat an absolute tiger to race with a bust leg, imagine the sheer trepidation he must feel that if he falls off he might knacker it all even more, hero is an over sed word but yu have to say John earns that accolade here, to do wat he did last year with the collarbone is one thing but a broken leg the man is a true hero!
As for Lavilla, well haydon seems to have crashed his way to his old self again, shame reall as he looked good last year! Interesting to see how Greg gets on, especiall if he wins, wouldnt Colin Wright be in a quandry then!!

My admiration for Reynolds has increased greatly from this. Even if he jsut rides safely and picks up a few points it'll be a great achievement,a dn could be crucial for his championship efforts long term. There aren't many guys in any sport who have enough guts to do this.

JR is 22nd fastest after free session 1, Kiyo, Rutter and Emmett is the 1,2,3 so far, Rob Frost is P1 in the first 600 session.....................!

Karl should do a lot better the second time around, he showed more of hs real potential last season, and should get comparable equipment to Kiyonari and Rutter. I can see him winning races this year.

JR fans shouldn't be too concerned yet, he's probably intentionally taking it easy, as he probably doesn't have much new to learn about how the bike will eprform this year. If he's 22nd after qualifying his fans can panic, but (while I doubt he'll be close to the ultimate potential pace) he should be able to get onto row 2 and take some solid 'better than nothng' type results without aggravating the injury.

Good first race, Kiyonari was very quick from the off. Nice performance from Richards and Lavilla

Kiyo was absolutely awesome to be honest, no one got near him in either race, well Emmett overtook him for a bit in race 2 but once in fron he ot a little buffer, eased of and then went for it!
Bike was rock solid, as was Rutters in race 2 wit a different front tyre.
Lavilla was superb and rode te wheels off the Duke despite saying he was going easy! And bi shout for Karl Harris going real well on the Dunlops to beat all the Stobart boys!
But best shout for JR who was a little quiet in the firast race once he knoew he couldnt be caught, bu to see him picking rider after rider off in race two was superb, think he overtook a rider a lap nearl for three laps as he went past Hill,Mason,Smart and a few more, blood superb and deserves to keep the plate just for that!
ot impressed with Smart wo bined it in 1 and was no etter than John in 2. Richard Wren was pathetic, second to last in both races, seem to remember Hill was rather better tha that. Stoabrt bos have a lot to do aswell I think, Laverty was nowhere really.
And the pai job on the Vivaldi bikes!! Eurgh, looks like a rum and raisin corneto!!!!
