Forum's "Pick 'Em" Contest - 2005 Kansas 300

2005 Argent Mortgage Indy 300 “Pick ‘em” Contest
Kansas Speedway – Sun., July 3

DEADLINE FOR PICKS: Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m. (GMT) or approx. Noon on Friday, July 1, in Kansas City…The first practice session for the teams begins on Saturday morning, but I prepare my score sheets at the office, so this will give me time to square them away before the Holiday weekend here in the USA.

PLEASE Get them in Before the Deadline

--- The IRL returns to the high-speed 1.5 mile ovals again…this time, on the 15-degree-banked Tri-Oval at Kansas Speedway….one of the top racing venues for the fans, and the teams in North America (a great place to watch a race!)

The event is 300 miles and 200 laps

Last year, it produced the ultra-close finish between Buddy Rice and Vitor Meira (the closest finish of 2004?), and this race is always a shoot-out, with cars racing 2 and 3 wide…

You selected Dario in the 4th spot on the grid, and he was 6th, on the outside of the 3rd Row...

To be honest, I felt pretty good about my picks as the race progressed....

Hornish was very competitive until he killed the car on a pit stop and Penske tried a gamble of pit strategy that did not pay off...

Soctt Sharp charged to 3rd and challenged Kanaan and Scheckter for position, but got sandwiched in a 3-wide and had to let off the throttle...fell to 12th, fought his way back up and just missed the Top 5....

and Wheldon ran a superb race....Tony just got a great run off 3 and 4 on that last lap.....

Just shows you how competitive the Series is this year....

I feel that this year's contest is much harder to select than last year's, because there are so many fast and strong teams....
