The Merit of T-Cars (formerly Next Best BTCC driver)
Don't worry FIRE, you're not the only one. T-Cars is a series for 14-17 year olds. They use a less powerful version of the chassis used in the Dutch Vege series (if that's still going). Usually helps if you are related to someone involved with motorsport (Palmer, Brundle, Quaife-Hobbs) or have a father with a big wallet (Chilton). With luck it will be several years before any of them are let near a touring car.
If this is a serious debate about who could/should be in BTCC in the next year or two then there are at least half a dozen drivers in Clios and SEATs who should be on this list. |

Since last year the Vege series is called BRL Light. The BRL Lights have a new Focus WTCC body. Compared to T-Cars the BRL Lights have a 2.3L engine. There is also a BRL-V6 series with 4L V6 powered tubeframe cars with Mondeo body. |

I'm sure that Max's dad will do the same for him as he did for Tom and give him a team for his birthday

T-Cars is a joke, and so are most of these drivers. I don't think any will be the next big BTCC driver, as I reckon the series will have dissapeared within a few years, its so awful these days.

actually Tcars was damn good to watch a lot better than i thought the drivers despite their ages as well are pretty good i think remember dont judge the series on the talent Tcars is a transition from karts to cars so for most of the drivers it is going to be quite new

so in essence what you are saying is that every junior championship is a joke and that we should pack them all in and just leave the big championships, well then we would have no motorsport at all

No because what I am saying is that T-Cars is not a real junior series, its just where rich old drivers children go to pretend they are going to be big stars when most of them give up eventually and finally give up the grid space to talented drivers in other series.

Alex, I've read your post 3 times now and I'm still struggling to understand it. Whatever point you were trying to make, however valid, has long since been lost. |

whether or not he is alex brundle does not matter because he does have a bloody good point there actually, these guys are the future of motorsport and judging them so early on when they are still learning is pretty harsh and unfair and to the people who do say Tcars is a waste of time tell me have you ever been to a meeting when Tcars is on because i enoyed it a lot more to what i thought i would have

wow there has been an aweful lot of slating going on while I have been away ,by the way i had my english teacher check this message and i put it in bold type so people of all ages will be able to read it. I would just like to say ,not to restart the fight, that there will always be talent in motorsport that gets over looked because in the end for those at the very top motor sport is a business. This is a fact of life unfair as it may seem so why try and dicriminate against people because of it. I recognise how lucky I am to be in my position and have so much respect for those who most probably had to work a hell of a lot harder than i did to start going racing however i still think that talent is talent and people shouldn't disregard drivers because money is on there side

dj, I don't think that anyone was suggesting that young drivers shouldn't learn; I think the suggestion is that there are better ways than T-Cars. I haven't seen too much of T-Cars, but the inference is that it is full of very young kids who obviously have a rich daddy; rich enough to run them in T-Cars rather than stick to karting which still needs a fair bit. How many 15 year olds do you know who have that kind of money to go and play with? as for talk of sponsorship, I don't believe that any serious business man is in the business of spending lots of cash so kids can 'learn'.
Most of the established racing drivers have come through karting. |

'don't believe that any serious business man is in the business of spending lots of cash so kids can 'learn'. ' no u would be right there ! but business men do not spend cash on drivers who have learnt and are as talented as they come! the truth of the matter is no one is spending money on motorsport full stop! sponsorship is hard to find at the best of times , so if u, ur dad or any other part of the family has the money then y not! i would n im sure u would too. Quote: Most of the established racing drivers have come through karting. so if u dnt do kartin ur not an 'established' driver! im sorry but most kartin these days cost a lot more than many junior series! u just dnt hear about it as much! just cos ppl see 14-16 year old racing CARS! they think 'dadddy' is payin but look at the drivers doin kartin , im sure everyone is queing up to sposnor them so 'daddy' doesnt have to pay!.....i dnt think so. |
