What Would You recommend?

I don't know whether to get an Arai SK5 or a Simpson Bandit in a few months time after i pass my exams (hopefully) would do peole here think of each helmet? I really like the Bandit in black but am afraid as they stand out so much they may become very un popular in a year or two as a lot of people are getting them unlike the Arai which i think look very good in a professional way

I would just suggest that you go for the lightest one..

Its a bit different. It looks Ok sometimes but other times it looks a bit naff. The Arai is also much cheaper isnt it? Personally I would go for the Arai.
If your going to use it for Karting I would get the SK-5. If your going to use it for cars the bandit because its a car helmet.

The thing about the Arai is that they're not really that comfortable at all in my opinion & also the back of it is very high up your neck when you're wearing it. Might not sound much, but I've had a couple of peoples nosecones there in the past.

Thanks for that, i'd never noticed about the height roudn the back of the enck and thats a good point made about it with the chance of a kart riding my exhaust. Always good to hear from people who have experience of wearing one of the helmets

The Bandit can be a bit tricky as well, it is a bit snugger in the eye area so sometimes drivers who wear glasses can get into a problem. It also isn't as close to your chin, and in very tight racing I have occaisionally gotten a bit choked up with exhaust, something I have never noticed before with any of my other helmets.

Another thing to consider on the safety side is that some models of the Bandit are Snell SA rated and not Snell K or Snell M rated. For autoracing where your head bounces off quite a few things in a crash, helmets are designed to meet the SA ratings, but K and M are for kart and/or motorcycle crashes, which are usually more of the hithead-slide variety than the banghead-banghead-banghead type.
