What a terrible period for North West marshalling. My sincere condolences to John's family and friends. That he kept marshalling despite his disability was an inspiration.

I've known John since I started marshalling in 1997. He carried on marshalling even though his disability limited what he could do, but his wit and humour always came through. I have one great memory of a radio call he made at Anglesey when a car span on the pit straight " Control post 15, car ....... car ..... car ..... F*** it, its continued!" It was a gem.
My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP John. |

Have just been told by his son Paul - terrible news. We had been marshalling the karts at three sisters on Sunday, he seemed in great spirits.
Despite recent issues with his health, John continued to marshal at Oulton in th pit lane and in the pits/paddock at three sisters, always cracking jokes and telling stories at each end of the day in the cafe! As has already been mentioned, some classic radio calls will be missed! When trackside, John was arguably one of the most accurate flaggies around - not many blues were missed or called in error. I shall miss the banter and the laughs, and the Friday night "have you got a spare ticket?" text! Paul has aksed me to say funeral details are to be announced in time. As an aside, could we get the thread title changed to spell his surname 'Hart'. Thanks |

What was amazing was that after his stroke he couldn't use one is arms very well so he had his blue flag velcroed to his sleeve! As has been said, he didn't get many blues wrong,

sad news indeed. John will be missed by all. Such a great guy so much courage and nothing ever too much trouble, doing all that he was able. He was always so pleasant and interesting to talk to come rain or shine. John was a great flaggie and had great courage and in spite of his disabilities a smile for everyone. Condolences to all his familly and friends. R.I.P. John.
God Bless Chris and John |

I'll add my sincere condolences to those already posted. I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. He was an inspiration and a genuine fella. Will miss his presence at the circuits. RIP John.
