Nigel, I think you should clarify this statement.

Live from start to finish in my opinion is how we watch an All Black game on Sky.
I believe that Bathurst will be Live but with interuptions from start to end including long advertising breaks and a significant interuption for the news at 6pm.
However I am happy to have you surprise us and say that this will be the first time TV3 does not go to the news during the critical final laps of the race.

Thanks for replying directly to the fans Nigel, it is appreciated.

It used to be that at 6pm, the coverage would switch over to C4. Are the shows that are on at that time on Four rating better than V8SC? Well, obviously they must be, or the coverage wouldn't be delayed, but for big events like this, and Bathurst, is it not possible to shift regular programming back an hour or so?

Happy to clarify SF... TV3's coverage of the Bathurst 1000 will be exactly the same as Channel 7's broadcast in Australia. TV3 will take Commercial Breaks exactly the same time as 7 and it will be live with no delay. We are fortunate we play less Commercials than 7 so a bit of a bonus for us. The Network has yet to decide on the News format for the day, but I can confirm there will be no long News Bulletin at 6pm, if there is News at 6 it will only be an update for a few minutes.

Hi Samhk, believe me Shaun and I have tried.. As I said it is purely economics and that's a shame. Something to consider is that TV3 are due to finish the Supercar Contract at the end of the year... So maybe when it gets a new home, Motorsport Fans will be able to enjoy it Live.. Fingers crossed. sorry I can't help.

Sounds like no more V8Supercars on your home of motorsport?

Would they consider the idea I mentioned earlier (using 3 Plus 1 for special programming)...Surely that's all added value?

It is a sad reality that we can't always get what we want, if it doesn't stack up economically then what else can they do?Plus the timing is lousy anyway, we can pick faults in TV3's coverage but reality is that TVNZ didn't do any better (albeit for the final year with a freeview channel). We have had some very dedicated people pushing motorsports barrow over the years at TV3 and TVNZ battling other sports for coverage, but they just do the best they can, from my understanding there is not the viewer numbers out there, maybe if more complained and more watched? If TV3 do lose the rights I will be sad to see it go, after a false start with moron presenters they got the right person for the job when they put Shaun in, he is very passionate about motorsport, quite why MSNZ would leave him off the media list is just mind boggling. We might get the coverage we want on Sky, but who the hell will we get presenting it??????

Oh yeah and I'm back after an enforced break away from the forum...

dont think she ever actually raced a ute...she took lots of photos and talked it up........used to state how fast she was in one of those formula challenge things quoting her sensational lap times from the 2k short track comparing with times from the full track....poor thing...
