That was a while ago and will have little if any impact on the team. The team are in good shape and prep is well under way for the 24 Hour. The Engineer and team left on amicable teams due to the Series being cancelled and the lack of work available for the Engineer. I believe that the Engineer has moved from the Newcastle area as well.

Can confirm Ozenigmas comments, as I believe the engineer actually made the decision to leave as the series fell into the dark hole and realised that there would not be enouh work to keep him going. He did a great job allowing the team to now hold the series lap record at Wakefield at his first race meeting. i trust he finds a new job in his new location and help another team to new heights.

Just reading though past threads, and have just one question, why did he leave before the 24hr, another job offer? They'd want to put a lot of preperation into the car before 24hr, so it would be bad to to loose key personal with just few weeks before big race. right!
Just a thought. |

The former engineer is Ozenigma. And he left the team by mutual agreement.
The previous car preparer David Platt is back working for the team. I dont know why this is such a big deal since it happened months ago |

Tom is actually Preping the Car, David Platt does not do any car prep and is only really concerned with Data, as i said it was months ago and was due to a lack of work and me taking a different direction.

Lyris, I have moved from Newcastle and that was one of the considerations in parting with the team, no constant work and a home in other places made that a very easy thing to do, I have other options I am considering but I am taking the rest of the year off to be with family.
Super, the car is quick and very easy to drive. I would think that Alex will be the fastest of all the drivers and Alex stated the car was easy to drive. Alan will be fast and is very good at communicating what the car is doing, Luke is a great young guy who just wants to race and will learn a lot from Alex and the important thing is he wants to learn. In all I think that most people would be off Alex's pace if Alex has enough time in the car to sort it to his liking, I have a huge wrap on Alex and found him to be on the pace within a few laps at testing, basically it all depends on the team and how they want to attack the race but the car if prepared right will be there in the end and will surprise a few people I am sure. PS as an old ST fan from Sydney, i'm looking forward to see a good ST at bathurst this year. With what seems to be a very competitive driver line up. Lets just hope the old girl dont blow.

It seems that the local representive of an ex-Minardi pilot (and 10/10ths contributor) has been hunting for a new seat warmer for the SAE BMW team for the 24 hr.
Is there trouble in the air?? Which pilot has flown the coop?? And more importantly why?? Given that this is the same crowd that put "Mr Crash" Tony Ricciardello in the drivers seat of the HYL thing a few weekends ago, who didnt manage to get thru even one session without leaving the circuit by spinning off, Ol' Miss Daisy might even get a run |

Mr Believer,
I received a quick call from a friend as they felt (as do I) that this post may be referring to me. In answer to your three questions 1. There is no trouble in the air, everything is running smoothly and the SAE Team expects to be extremely competitive on the Mountain in November. 2. It is not Alex 3. The Driver in question has informed us he may not be able to compete for personal reasons. I understand he has not yet ruled out the drive but has asked the Team to see if there is someone else for the seat. Onto the other points, Yes I have (quietly I thought) been asking a question or two of some drivers I thought may be interested. As for Tony Ricciardello I think you are overly harsh, he was first on scene after the Bates machine dropped some fluid and had a significant off because of this. If you think that you can do better give me a call on 0410 546665 (you need a bit of a budget) and I will see if we can get you in the Bima in November. As well as applying to Mr Beliver, that invite applies to talented drivers as well. cheers Ross Last edited by Ross Cadell; 21 Oct 2003 at 09:37. |

You are being mighty presumptuous there calling me Mr Believer! It may or may not be the case, but why do people always assume forum posters are male?
Back to the fun stuff.. I am impressed by your offer, but would have thought you might have picked your other Young Lion to take the 'Bima' for a burn that weekend..... Talking of Young Lions, while I dont have access to any funds to take up your offer at the moment, how would I go about inquiring about a gig next year in the HYL Cubs? Or am I too old for that? |

Ross, any word on who'll be driving for HYL next year? Heard it may have been one of your proteges.

Mate I just do some digging and data building on the drivers. JF and Holden do the culling and then I go off to talk to those that pass the muster.
There is a short list that is being considered at the moment. Won't really be saying anything until end of the year I think. I would always be happy to have input on drivers to look at < 21 with virtually no Supercar experience. Email or phone anytime. I have tried to convince Casey that cars are a lot safer than bikes (especially when engines seize!) and he may get come up for a run but he is definitely staying with bikes. So the HYL drivers pay for their drives? I thought the HYL program was about bringing on new talent regardless of budget??
