Abu Dhabi February Events

I think I’m right that about 100 UK marshals will be coming out for the Abu Dhabi race events in February. I’m down to marshal at the GP2 meeting, but will be moving back to the UK on the Aus V8 weekend. Poor timing. Local emails suggest that marshals will be accommodated in hotels and not the infamous labour camp. Race timetables (provisional I’m sure) for both events below. The main races will all be held in the dark under the lights. Hope to see some of you at the GP2 meeting.

My volunteering slip was posted back to BARC yesterday. Fingers crossed for a nice email from Ian Watson next week.

Love to do both, but especially the Aus V8s. Unfortunately, lack of holidays and family commitments prevent me from applying. Hope quite a few who didn't get selected last time get a chance. Good luck.

Was this a "behind closed doors" invitation then?

No, but they have only been asked to supply Post Chiefs, IOs & incident marshals, so if you applied to flag at the GP you won't have been invited.

All of which means I've been invited, am available but ain't applying. . .

It explains why I haven't had an invite as I was flag at the ADGP but your not a flag Stig, or did you apply as a flag?

I applied as flag. Officially I'm a course marshal (or whatever that's called now). I got within a whisker of being able to upgrade and they changed the rules - Just need 5 incident dates to go with the 5 course and 10 flag dates though...

I was still a trainee at the time the AD GP invites were sent out so didn't get asked. I upgraded in October but just realised I didn't tell BARC so still no invite! Not that I could make it anyway but have now emailed Becci regarding upgrade (can't seem to find a way of changing it online)-fingers crossed for this years GP!
